"Contrast, colors, and sunlight legibility all factor into how good a particular display is, and we'll be taking everything into account before we give a final verdict."

if in the end they were going to say that

"the bigger screen diagonal and the higher resolution still has its say at the end of the day"

i wasted a few minutes there reading that part for the display.

A tie would have been a bit acceptable. i havent seen a g3s display but i cant imagine that resolution to be really noticeable with that screen size. i played a 720p and 1080p video on an s5 and i hardy noticed the difference. you know whats so easy to notice? the screens contrast, colors, and sunlight legibility when viewing photos or watching videos.

I believe the G3 lost and that is due to the QHD screen. The S5 screen is better to me, and the G3's resolution brought down screen contrast etc., phone performance and battery life. Not worth the trade offs.

i've seen a camera comparison between the 2 and in daylight both cameras are similar and low light, the G3 is ahead. in this test here, the S5 looks like far better. but seeing G3 reviews and actual pictures taken by myself on a friends S5, i have to say, the S5 is rather disappointing. the phone itself is just a bloated software mess. too many options in ridiculous menus. that's not good at all and i used only samsung android smartphones in the past. for me no more samsung, the direction they are going is not mine anymore

TouchWhiz is ugly, design the same, harte rate sensor is as good as a led flash and that function with recomended apps is taken from lg g2

[deleted post]Yes,going by the test results, the Galaxy S5 does seem like it should have won the display category. I too am confused by gsmarena's choice of the G3. The G3 is a good phone. It offers an impressive screen to bezel ratio and great features. I do not, however, see it as the superior flagship device. It seems that it is frequently overrated and overhyped; much like the QHD display.

I also find it hard to belive that the LG G3 took the win in the screen section. With inferior contrast, sunlight legibility, viewing angles, and color saturation, the G3 looses in the display department in my opinion. Both screens are razor sharp it is incredibly difficult for the human eye to distinguish between 432ppi and 534. Therefore, the added resolution is only to please specification fanatics. The only real advantage that the G3 has over the S5, in terms of the display, would be its larger size.
I know that people will bash on the S5 for its over saturated colors, but you can adjust the color tones to be more realistic. You do not have the option to boost color saturation and contrast on the G3. The S5 has the superior display. Saying the G3 has the better display islike saying that an Xperia Z's display is better than a Moto X's.

Galaxy Sx phones are like toys for kids due to its obvious plastic appearance. The S5 looks similarly to the original S phone. In terms of design, GSMarena has poor judgment to consider S5 as good as G3.

In terms of overall performance with batterylife, screen, contrast, brightness, camera etc the S5 is a clear winner to me and the big plus that it has IP67 against dust and water, sorry lg G3 u didnt impress and cant bring down an older phone really pahtic atempt... and so much better it is to have high resolution to get less surf and video time rofl..

I just create account here to laugh at you GSMArena. How LG G3 won in screen part? It's much worse and it's bad screen as overall. QHD on this size of the screen is a gimmick that makes battery life and performance worser. Only real advantage is bigger screen with a little bigger body. So S5 should win this part.

I stopped reading the moment they called touchwhiz better. That's where GSMA comparisons really fail. They only consider the specs list. Phones like M8 and G3 are simply more than the sum of their parts, that's why they always win on other sites and lose here. They offer an incredible and satisfying user experience, but they fail in GSMA reviews because they only consider the paper, not the actual feeling.
G3 UI looks years ahead of touchwiz, it's the best looking UI you can currently have, even beats Sense and iOS. All the features lg put there are actually usable, not hundreds of gimmicks like Samsung. Plus knock code beats Samsung's finger print reader in convenience and speed. Overall there's 0 comparison, G3 UI blows touchwiz out of the water in experience, looks and even features.
Sent from LG G2 running G3 port.

"the impressive-looking flagship is left behind its main rivals when it comes to horsepower."

How does it show in real life usage, outside benchmark charts?

But that overheating issue is bad, I'll give you that.
