S5 is the ugliest flagship i have ever seen. Not to mention that they copied fingerprint from iphone and waterproof from Sony. G3 is a generation upfront here, so no point to compare. And wtf are u all saying the human eye cannot see blablaba? Higher resolution with more ppi MEANS a better screen, simple!

I stopped reading at the display comparison. S5 is better in everything except sharpness and they give the winner to LG. Outdoor visibility, contrast, black levels, brightness both low and high. The extra pixels at this mark offers almost nothing in daily use. I am not a S5 fun and I would prefer other smartphones before I go to S5 but Samsungs super amoled display on s5 is brilliant.

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2014You mean LG finally moved away from a Galaxy inspired desig... moreBro, first let me say that I have used both phones the S5 and the G3.

The S5 do have large bezels and you cant deny that, and the most annoying thing is that flap on the S5 which you have to open everytime in order to charge the phone, It just gets in the way.

The G3 looks and feels much more premium and special than the S5, just hold both phones and you will notice it it right away. Yes both are plastic but the difference in quality is there.

The worst thing though about the S5 though is the back speaker, it is just very very bad.The sound is muffled and it crackles. what is even worse is that the whole phone vibrates when you play anything, and it soon becomes unbearable to even hold the phone. The speaker on the G3 is miles better!

Lets move on to the screen, yes the contrast is not great, but please tell me when will you use the phone at 100% brightness? only under sunlight that is, and will you notice the black level under sunlight? Nop. Indoor the brightness will be around 60-70% and trust me the contrast is just fine at that level. It is by no means a washed out screen, just not as color punchy as the S5.

You have to accept the fact that many phones will have QHD screens in the future, I just dont understand why is everyone bashing LG for this move, when even the S5 is more laggy than the LG, I just laugh at Samsung when they cant even get the Contacts to run smoothly on such a high end phone. Touchwiz will always be a burden. I remember when I had the S5, the call logs where just the laggiest thing on earth, just scroll down and you feel like you are using a phone that is very low end, to laggy and stuttery.

Sorry for this long talk, but I had to share my experience, because I thought this comparison is unfair to the G3, which in my opinion is the winner here.

Hardware-wise the Galaxy S5 is hardly the best looking flagship around, particularly when it comes to design. -gmsarena - sorry but i have to disagree...

The S5 is still the overall winner here. Both are great and everyone has preferences.
However the S5 wins in battery, display "except extra resolution", camera, ergonomics, practicality, durability, being the original of the two in most UI aspects, slightly more optional/functional UI, louder headphone out put with similar clarity, history of updates has a story to tell us...

G3 has 3gb some versions, higher resolution, slightly better speaker, slightly cleaner output, and better low light pictures.

Lol. Wow they both have polly carb, but one is a toy because you prefer the looks of the other.
And no LG is not bezel free nor are the S5's huge.
Plus having water protection, better ergonomics, and soft touch comfortable material help S5 a lot.

Then made the point that the S5 is superior in all that....but then deemed G3 screen better for more pixels??

                        Contradiction??
But at the same time I could have sworn when testing the G3 camera prior they said the color balance was very accurate. While the S5's is known to be a bit saturated.
Though in bright sunlight the S5 actually seems to be very accurate compared to others. Especially in video.

Wow! The S5 really destroyed the G3. It's more powerful, feature rich, and has a much better camera.

Samsung is a problem! Manufacturers better bring their A Game or they'll get embarrassed like this.

Once the Galaxy F/S5 Prime drops...ballgame!

I can't really see the point of bantering about phones. At the end of the day, your requirements and needs are what's most important.

GSM Arena, i am a bit confused about your conclusions to this comparison. After taking the timeout to read the article because i am considering purchasing one of these phones it seems to me that the S5 is the clear winner over the G3 as it won in most of the categories!

On a personal note, I have had the opportunity to play with both phones and whilst i am not a tech wiz as some of the guys posting on this site the S5 does appeal to me a lot more than the G3

How the G3 won with the display round with "inferior color, contrast, and sunlight legibility" is beyond me. So having washed out colours is better than lower resolution. Also, is there really a significant difference (or any at all) between 432ppi and 534ppi to the human eye?

[deleted post]How does S5 better when it has the same form factor as the original galaxy S. The noticeably plastic apperance better? What sort of innovation doea S5 have? Plasticky toy, at least the LG G3 does not look cheap and plasticky. Almost bezel free vs S5 thick bezels, G3 is cheaper, the rear placement pf control buttons is a geometric genius. S5 or Sx are the same boring designs. The color reproduction on SX are childlike toys also.

Whatever little improvement the reviewer the LG had over the S5 here and there (and I disagree with most of their conclusions), I immediately lost interest when I read about the overheating problems the LG had. No amount of performance or number screen pixels a phone had, it's no good if it's going to overheat and freeze!

Regardless, the S5 would be my pick even if the LG didn't have that problem.

I also think the S5 should've won the screen comparison. It ticks more bullet points--saturation, contrast, sunlight legibility, and viewing angles--than the G3, whose only advantages are resolution and size. I remember GSMarena giving the HTC Vivid the same criticisms as the G3 but declared the Galaxy S II screen superior despite its lower PPI.
