Oppo Find 7 review: Dark horse

02 July 2014
When talking about flagships, one name that keeps on popping up alongside the likes of Samsung and Sony is Oppo. Needless to say, it has long stopped being a surprise. With solid offerings of the past two generations in the Find 5 and N1, Oppo is...

So the top end Android devices now need 3GB of ram to get the best out of the chipset and screens. When will it end? I dont think we need this hardware development, but more efficient Android OS. If Apple, Windows and even Blackberry have efficient and more secure OS's why cant Android.

They don't employ tricks that LG employed on the G3 like lower contrast and changes to the backplane, reduced max and average brightness apart from the "3A" dynamic fps reduction for static renders etc hence the penalties in battery life, But it will, like any other phone with the newer SD801s, give the same 4 - 4.5hrs of all day 3G/LTE with heavy mobile data usage.

If you use a lot of WiFi then this is not very good by those standards. Not great as a personal videoplayer.

You guys gotta relax about the battery life, like one other comment said, CM11 for the Oppo Find 7 is out now, running Android 4.4.4. And the 4.4.4 CM11 nightlies have amazing battery life improvements. I think its worth the money, plus free shipping too. At the end of the day, this phone is one of if not the best phone out right now (with CyanogenMod installed).

As anyone can see, Oppo can cheat better than Samsung in benchmarks :)

Its Lith-Po Battery not Lith-Ion, Polymers are bit better and actually costly if am not mistaken.

Also it would have been good to add that Cyanogen is out officially for Find7, That might give batter some good boost if nothing else.

Bit surprising, in Headhifi and other places headset performance was rated over HTC One.

Impressive benchmark scores. Battery, not so good. Perhaps their Color OS needs to be optimized to improve battery life. KitKat update might also help things eventually. Nonetheless, very good effort from Oppo. I had my doubts when I first heard of them.

To the phone manufacturers: We want good batteries!!! If the screen isn't quite as sharp, or if it's a little thicker, so be it! I guess thin and sharp screen looks good in the stores though, so this is why battery takes a back seat.

                                Poor battery life

To be fairly short / concise, I say that okay Oppo have to work on various sectors next year! to improve the Find 8 or? And eventually to be able to even beat the top notch brands, and to then eventually get a much more comprehensive and widespread/globally notoriety!! but having said that, Oppo (Find 7) is really directly on the right road / direction!! Congratulations to Oppo! and really deserve a lot more sales! !

"Like the on the LG G3, QHD screens apparently take a lot of power to run"

G3's battery life wasn't nearly as bad.
