The frequency response graph of the 2014 model looks far better than its predecessor. The question now is, will it be officially supported by Cyanogenmod?

See my post earlier. The small battery vs screen size is a dealbreaker. No LTE doesn't help. I love my Moto G 4G LTE, which is better than this in battery, screen resolution, and connection ability. My advice is to wait and see if Motorola comes out with an LTE version of this Moto G with a bigger battery, otherwise, just get the Moto G 4G LTE, which is awesome for the price.

The phone form factor is great but battery is equally pathetic ! I have returned the phone back to flipkart for the first time thinking there must be battery issue and got brand new again with same battery drain. On 2G on exchange mail with very moderate use calling and whatsapp use, this will not last 8 hrs of life. Kindly do not go for this if you go by previous MOTO G reputation. Go for Xperia or windows phone for decent batteries with 2 to 4 K additional in India.

One of my friend bought the phone. The phone in all os great as explained above by the gsm guys... But after running it we faced couple of problems first its pixel density is not that great as compared to its screen size secondly the most major problem which smart phones face is the battery life. The battery used is the same which was used in moto e and the moto g hence due to bigger screen size battery causes a bog problem and another major issue is with the ram which is very less...... As compared to its size and if Android l comes then the phone will surely get drowned....
So i think the moto g which came earlier was better than the new one

- This was true for the 4.5" models, but for the new model there are doubts. Many reviewers saw a relative dark screen which is poorly visible outside only at max. brightness.
I would like to see your very informative measurements of (sunlight)-contrast as a amendment.
For me runtime is crucial: the 4.5 is superb, minus 40% in web browsing is - with a fixed battery - a dealbreaker.

2014 phone with 2012 specs.
You can buy a brand new Lumia 920 or Galaxy S3 for the same price.

The cam is 6mpix when properly set up with a 4:3 format, 16:9 is irrelevant, real cameras are 4:3 and 2:3, why should camphones be any different? Theres noting to use 16:9 photos for, they only contain 25% more irrelevant stuff that has nothing to do with the photo.

After using moto g for few fays I feel its overall performance and battery life is exceptionally good than many Samsung rivals....best battery performance of one and half day with average calls 10-15, 1.5 hour web browsing over WiFi,

AnonD-145998, 23 Sep 2014I do agree that Nexus 4 is a far better phone but yet more ... moreThe 2014 is overall a better phone despite being a little slower, and this is coming from a big fan of the N4 who bought it twice. The N4 camera is just terrible, in ideal condition it could match the Moto G or even better, but when it goes to low light condition it does terrible. The Moto G 2014 have dual front speaker which is much better than the N4 rear speaker which is extremely quiet. Lastly, even though it lacks LTE, the Motorola phones have excellent signal quality and it's simply much better in this respect. The Moto G display is better as well, even though the viewing angle isn't great, it's adequately bright with good contrast, very colorful and sharp. It's actually sharper than the N4 and original Moto X screen even though they have higher PPI, it's strange, but true due to the pixel arrangement.
The part this phone lack is a small amount of ram (512mb more would be nice) and the battery could be 200mAH bigger, right now I get only 3-4hours of screen on time, compared to the original G which get 5 to 6. With all that said, it's the best budget phone I've ever used.

I wonder why those older (and significcantly cheaper) phones from micromax have been mentioned, instead of the equi priced Micromax Canvas Nitro.
This one has an octa core processor; 2gigs of ram; a 13 mp shooter from sony; a big 2500 mAh battery (which one of the reviewers claimed to offer a 16 h video playback time!); and of course, a 5' hd ips display.
Need anythin' more?

I am user of moto g and moto x(both 2013). We all were very disappointed by its very soft image quality. So don't rely on its camera app try google camera and see the difference in the image quality.

BATTERY LIFE, BATTERY LIFE, BATTERY LIFE! Even at the low price of $179.99. The newer, bigger Moto G should have increased the battery to, at least 2600mAH. Hopefully, if they re-introduce it in LTE version for this 5" model in a few months. $219 SHOULD bring 2600-3000mAh, LTE, and 16GB native storage.

Short and accurate review guys. Kudos..
Been using it for two weeks..phone is good for day to day to use. Never had any lags except for intensive browsing on chrome. Apart from that battery life is OK. I get one day of battery life..
Missing LTE thou. And snapdragon 600 wouldn't have been bad with slight increase in pruce .

I use the Moto G 4G LTE as my device and no way would I give that up for this. I thought the battery life would be worse on this because of the bigger screen. Nice to see GSMArena confirm it. My battery on my Moto G LTE is much better. Also, the stereo speakers would be nice, but my speaker is plenty loud. The bump in camera isn't that much, and honestly, I get decent pictures if I take my time with the shot and the lighting is good. Lack of LTE and the lack of a bigger battery were the deal breakers. The Moto G 4G LTE is a better device, IMHO.

Amazon is listing nexus 4 unlocked for $270 (the lowest offering) from questionable sellers and questionable "new" condition considering that the nexus 4 was phased out several months ago.
Since the launch of this new version of the moto g the old moto g price was reduced in amazon to $160 (8GB) and $179 (16GB). Fot that price there is not competition.

A LG Nexus 4 E960 is still much better value for money. Faster too! The only downside if it's going to get Android L or not.

A few days ago I was trying to decide between the previous moto G and this model (moto g 2014).
Of course it will always be a matter of personal preferences, however, I decided to go with the old moto g for the following reasons:
Better battery life, higher screen brightness, higher screen resolution, louder speakerphone and pocket friendly size.
The major improvement in the new moto g would be the camera performance but I still think that previous moto g can be considered accepatable in that regard.
