Sony Xperia Z3 review: Hat trick

24 September 2014
To say we are eager to get the Xperia Z3 out for a spin would be a massive understatement – with the race track still warm from the Compact. After all, if the Robin in Sony’s IFA lineup can do that well, we can only imagine...

To all the people out there complaining about water damage: NEVER use an electronic device under water!! Electronics and water never go along, nor they ever will. You know that!

YES Sony claims it is water resistant to some extend, and yes most of the time it works. But you have always things like faulty phones and statistical errors. Some phones aren't just waterproof, like some iPhone 6 Plus' can bend. Or Z2's can have a 'selfcracking screen', and so on.
Now taking a so claimed 'water resistant phone' to the swimming pool with the full awareness that your specific device can be a defective unit after all is just plain stupid. You can't explain it afterwards to Sony service centre since they would never know whether it was just a defective device or you were just too stupid to not close the flaps. Just play safe and be ensured of a working device after some rain drops.

Don't take a risk and go out there looking for trouble in the swimming pool.

2 years for Acro S and almost 1 year for Z1.
And the flaps are still working properly, even when i dunked them in a glass of water.
Stop misleading people with your "truth"

        And stamina mode do work.
But i turn it off because i need my data connection.
BTW, the 'motion sensing' as u said were already implemented from z2 onwards.

i'm a previous xperia z lte user and it was a disaster i switched to it from my galaxy s3 back then , the speaker phone is useless due to water seal you can barely hear what others are saying when your in the car with your speaker phone. the stamina mode is a joke - it never gave me a better battery life. stamina never disables your processor cores like the power saving modes in htc and samsung so even with the stamina mode on you will still waste a lot of battery power. they don't take full advantage of the android os. they can easily implement motion sensing like flip to mute and bring your phone to your ear to answer but they are not giving much care about those and sticks to stock android experience. the screen is gorilla glass but gives a cheap plastic feel to it. pretty sure z2 and z3 are the same so never thought of buying one. btw any water proof sony phone is a failure if there are flaps to cover ports cuz after few months the water seals on those flaps will start breaking apart. just headsup to anyone whose trying to buy xperia phones. tc.

[deleted post]I....., point proved beyond any doubt...
                      case closed, right there.

Slayer, 26 Sep 2014Well I have owned every Xperia top end phone, Z, Z1, Z2 and... moreI've owned an Xperia ZR and Z2 and the waterproofing failed on both. And Sony's idea of customer service is to charge you extra to tell you what you already know about their failed hardware! I even spent extra on the charging dock so I wouldn't have to open any flaps to preserve the waterproof seals on my Z2. It was a complete waste of money.

If you're going to spend nearly a thousand on a phone beware of Sony. My experience with xperia's has been that their waterproofing claims are false. My Xperia's Z2 's waterproofing failed after less than 1 month from Swimming! My first experia ZR failed in a hot tub after less than 10 minutes, but I thought the Z2 with it's ip 58 rating of water jet proof would be better. I was wrong. Swimming is hardly a water jet, but that's all it took for the phone to die completely. AND Sony's idea of customer service is to tell you the phone has water damage and CHARGE you a $25 testing fee!
