    - "Tablet buyer's guide"
    - not a single Windows tablet
    - GSMArena logic.

How on earth can this be a guide, when the most basic thing that a good tablet does is to run Windows? All non-Windows tablets are toys that don't allow you to do much with them. They're just oversized phones that you can use to play phone games on a bigger screen and browse the web on simple browsers.

Is Google paying you guys to leave out all Microsoft products from your guides?

AnonD-214858, 18 Jul 2015last time i check in windows store there were more than 200... moreI don't know if wp apps as they are right now will work on desktop and tablet versions of windows 10 but if they do they will look really bad since they are optimized for specific (small) screen sizes. Universal apps that exist since windows 8.1 update 1, have convinced many devs to publish some good apps for windows tablets.
It's true that tablet versions of windows exist since xp but they never really took off. I don't think that many widely used applications were made with touch in mind. Nevertheless, most of the traditional win32 apps are big enough on a 10inch screen to be used with your finger. Small screens are the problem.
Many (popular) apps on the playstore work for tablets since android has to support many screen sizes (and densities). There is no need for a specific tablet ui to be made, there are mechanisms that shift the content to fit the screen size if the developer implements it. Universal windows apps can do this too. But, after publishing some apps on the windows store I can tell you that it's a pain to work with visual studio and blend to make the ui work everywhere. I really want windows 10 phones and tablets to take off (yay for surface) since I have put some time and effort in app development for those.

dukaki, 17 Jul 2015Windows is a desktop os. Below 10 inches desktop is unusuab... morelast time i check in windows store there were more than 200,000 touch apps, with windows 10 in the corner these tab will also run wp apps.

how many apps are optimized for tablet use in playstore? very few i doubt if they reach even 200,000 of windows store. and dont forget these win tab have full office application which is very important.

and not all x86 apps are not optimized for touch, there are few proffesional softwares i know which can be used with touch (windows has tablet since 2002), a good example is like magix series of creative software.

I think the Mi Pad is definitely one tablet that has been missed out on this list. It might not be the most polished overall but it offers the most bang for your buck with quality internals and a super inexpensive price.

Dell Venue Pro 7840 is not worth the money. I have one. It took MONTHS to get Lollipop. Only 16 GB of storage. SD card is worthless because one cannot move apps or photos to the SD card, nor will the default camera app save to SD card. So consider 16gb all you will get. The Dell case looks nice, but is flimsy and breaks under normal use above the USB port; it is worthless. The tablet is prone to crashing, and loses Wi-Fi requiring a reboot. The nearly stock Android is ruined by Dell "enhancement" programs that cannot be removed. The only redeeming value is the Amoled screen. Not worth nearly $400.

Android tab and I pad are like giant phone to me you can never compare it to microsoft Pro 3. My idea of a tablet is something that can replace my laptop. That is why I don't bother to look at any andriod or apple tablets

As mentioned a few posts earlier, I also miss the Xiaomi MiPad from the list. It has got the Tegra K1 SoC, like the Shield and the Nexus9, but it is much cheaper. Comes with the same display (spec-wise) as the ipad mini and has got a microSD slot.

So, in few words: if you have enough money, just buy any Apple tablet. They are the best

Nexus 9 has the fastest soc compared to other android tablets. But it is not the best in terms of real-world speed and usability. There are huge memory issues with the 64bit android builds. There are around 400mb of free ram after a clean boot with no apps running (not counting cached apps). You can't keep more than 1 app in memory and on chrome you can barely keep 2 tabs open without having them refresh themselves when you select them. Also, launcher redraws all the time. Process Stats shows that the memory status is Critical 99% of the time...
On comparison, a Nexus 7 2012 with only 1gb of ram can keep up to 7 desktop webpages in memory and at the same time 3 other apps running on the background on android 5.1.1.
Currently running the latest android M preview and the memory situation seems better. Maybe M will finally fix those issues.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2015For me a tablet without full Windows is unusable, and with ... moreWindows is a desktop os. Below 10 inches desktop is unusuable with touch because everything is so tiny (high dpi doesn't work most of the time). On the live-tile ui everything is perfect but the app selection is neither huge nor high quality. Many popular apps' windows ports are really bad in terms of ui (pixelated images/textures, bad layouts), crash a lot, and are outdated compared to their ios/android versions.
Surface 3/ Pro 2/3, T100TA, Lenovo Miix 2/3 10 etc are ok. Atoms from baytrail and up are really fast for what they are worth.
Toshiba Encore/2, Dell venue 8 Pro, lenovo miix 2/3 8 not so much.
