They call the Z3 compact "thick" are they serious?
Apple and Samsung maybe making thinner phones but not necessarily for the better. Z3 compact fits better than the new iphone and galaxy.

The Question that rises and demands answering from Sony....
was the 4K display needed for this phone?
the screen is too small to note the difference!!!!
or this is a crowd please feature so they would look away from your shortage in other departments (larger internal storage or better SoC)
just sayin'

Prior to reading this, I read a hands-on review of some huawei phone (S). Glowing tributes from Gsmarena from start to finish yet I found nothing fully supportive of the hype. Then, I read this post on some really innovative and exciting stuff, in triplets for SONY and all I see are a series of "buts". The writer seems to try too hard to find faults where there are none, or just raise doubts or downplay remarkable achievements. These are great phones! Can't you just say that?! Now for SONY to make the price right!

DON'T BUY........DON'T BUY Don't know about others but my experience with the Sony is really Bad. Don't ever buy Sony high-end handsets they are shits....sony makes fool to their consumer...i bought xperia z3 compact 10 months back and experienced 4th time similar display blackout problem...simply they are keeping my mobile for 20-25 day in the service centre...everytime they promised me that this will never happen again....I am regret of my decision I purchased Sony

I'm digging the new and improved style cover. I like functional and sleek cases, and now the new case has actual protection! To me that was actually a deciding factor.

viveksubhash, 04 Sep 2015yea true...and its not like all the laptops and tvs have 4k... moreThere are benefits using higher resolution screens.
It will have a negative impact on benchmark performance and on gaming performance.
But the batterylife situation isn't necessarily as bad as some think.
When it comes to the display itself, it's lighting it up that uses most of the power. moving pixels, or turning them on or off depending on tech, does not use much more energy at all.
Lighting the display up, is affected by size, not by resolution. (With oled, there are more LEDs, but they are smaller, so each uses less, meaning the overall draw is no higher).
The CPU and GPU has to work really hard to push 4K resolution, when you run benchmarks, and games. However, if it just needs to draw the OS, scale webpages, and do scaling of typical apps, the CPU/GPU actually does not have to work as hard as one might think.
Real life performance if you don't play games, should be quite good.
Depending on the efficiency of the GPU, batterylife should not be that much of an issue.
I don't expect it to be a batteryking. The Z3 had less batterylife than the Z3 compact. This is even bigger, and the CPU/GPU has to work a little harder. But I expect the performance to be decent, probably a bit better than on LG G4.

AnonD-152638, 03 Sep 2015Yeah, but we don't know why he said that. It's still true.... moreyea true...and its not like all the laptops and tvs have 4k or more screens....we're ok with those aren't we? nooone is bothered when laptop screens arent amoled full hd or ips..bu they want full quad hd or 4k in a tiny 5inch display....imo 1080p is more than enough for a 5-5.5 inch screen larger screens can have QHD, tablets can go for 2160p...phone makers may feel obligated to make phones at max specs available..but then why can't they take a leaf out of Project ara and get customizable phones..not necessarily plug and play parts but customizable at purchase point like in those hp/del/ibuypower websited for pc/laptops??

I think it's stupid having a 5.5" device with the 4k resolution when my 6.4" Z Ultra has a 1080p res. Shouldn't they have at least made a 6" device with the first 4k screen rather than such a small screen coming first with 4k, just doesn't make sense.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015I DISAGREE, how are you going to judge a device OBJECTIVELY... moreYou can see pretty clearly how the device LOOKS by looking the clear pictures GSM Arena has provided for this article. That's how I can see if I like the design (body design, NOT SOFTWARE) or not. Sometimes devices do look different in real-life, sure.
Where these things are coming from: me hating on 4K and commenting the Sony software in any way, when I clearly didn't say a word (until you, out-of-nowhere, claimed I did - you confused me with someone else?).

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015You're not aware of the fact that we're all allowed to even... moreI DISAGREE, how are you going to judge a device OBJECTIVELY if you haven't used it yet? So you're going to base it on your magic ball? Even reviewers have disclaimer that the hands on devices no matter what it is, must be understood that they're running on a pre production software to avoid any BIAS. Makes no sense huh?? You're being too pointless.
Fun, yes it is. I ENJOY helping other people who are having a HARD time to understand.
