Bello, 03 Sep 2015They sholud wait a few more months and give us 820 cpu and ... moreIn another note, they do have a 6 month release cycle, so we won't have to wait that long for the "proper" SD820 (and their next model).
Who knows, maybe this latest revision of the SD810 can still surprise us.

Dreal, 03 Sep 2015My opinion is that Sony nailed the perfect balance of
1) ... moreTrue.
But to be fair, they then leveled the field by putting a SD810 in it...

the amount of distortion on the camera is absolutely unacceptable ,look at those buildings leaning to the right on the far lest side of the photo & leaning to left on the right side,
the amount of distortion is not acceptable at all,
because they produced a little sensor with 25mp on it,
we have distortion on other smartphones as well but not this much its so much i can see it clearly without any attention at all,
25mp 1/2.3" sensor???? that explains why.
they must have used a bigger sensor or current size with less pixels to avoid this much distortion.that's really bad, thanks to Gamarena for their quick coverage.

Ideal line-up.
Z5 Premium should have been a QHD screen
and make a Z5 Ultra that comes with 6.4-6.6" 4k screen & 4000mAh+ Battery.

I would probably consider buying the Z5 Premium even if it had a 1080p screen. 4K is too much. Btw, the camera samples for these models look amazing.
If it is true that it can record 4K videos for at least 10 minutes without heating up then it would be really great.

apart from the big batteries, waterproof and the camera that seems great,
there is too much top and lower bezel!!! people want slick looking phones. no design innovation.
no heart-rate sensor.
Z5 compact should have been 1080p. Z5 should have been QHD.

sony makes food devices which doesnt lag. Unlike lagwiz devices, which are still laggy in 2015.

why don't they ever learn ?
they should build better phones rather than upping the "specs" on paper ......
snapdragon 810 driving a 4K screen .... how is this gonna beat any other flagship in performance ?

Sony, Sony, SONY.
Z5, Z5c and the Z5 Premium with 4K display first in a smartphone.
Sony did a good job this year and offering a nice choice of Z5 family.
Z5: 1080p(428ppi)(69.6%screen to body ratio) and 2GB of RAM.
Z5c: 720p(323ppi)(68.9%screen to body ratio) and 3GB of RAM.
Z5Premium: 2160p(806ppi)(70.4%screen to body ratio) and 3GB of RAM.
All sharing SnapDragon 810, 23MP quality camera, waterproofing and fast charging.
And of course microSD slot these days.
The design is same old, but slightly better this year around, with nice small tweaks like fingerprint scanner on power button, engraved EXPERIA logo on side and frosted design to prevent fingerprints better, well except Z5 Premium and especially chrome variant.
SO yeah, pretty decent choice.
And it came as a surprise that Sony would be the first to bring 4k to smartphone realm.

Camera samples look amazing, that's actually true.

Sample Photos are perfect, looks and build are perfect, resolution autoadaptable 4K screen is perfect, S810 SoC appears to not have any overheat issue as some youtube testers confirmed (more than 10 min 4K videorecording without overheat), connectivity and memory up to 200gb are perfect, benchmarks are perfect...
Only battery life of Premium version is of a concern, but...with all that in there its forgivable
This phone is...perfect!

So 4K is flagship, 2K is midrange, and FHD is entry?

AnonD-152638, 03 Sep 2015Don't expect Android M to bring batterylife improvements.
... moreI'm pretty optimistic since it is a much lower level optimization of Android.
Kinda the same with how Sony made kernel level optimization of the screen/panel control.
I'll take it even if it is 5% longer.... 5% out of 100h = 5h, that still helps :D
I also mentioned that I'm a practical customer & a light user.
I can happily live with 1.4GHz SD 410, coz again I'm all about battery life, battery life, & battery life.
An underclocked 810 is still a better performer than 615 which I feel adequate.
Also SoC do get outdated quickly but not as much in terms of decrease the manufacturing process to 14nm, exactly the same reason why I hold on to my Intel Sandy Bridge until now for the sake of Skylake.
So yeah, it's really better off for me.
It'll be a perfect smartphone for me & my usage, while others have their own needs & preferences.

1) better performance - less pixels to render
2) better battery life - less pixel to render and to be powered
3) lower cost - the screen is already great & beautiful w/o the unnecessary extra cost

AnonD-44227, 03 Sep 20151080P = available on almost all TVs today
4K = available o... moreSure..in Tvs it makes sense..
Huge screens...resolution jump is appreciated if not needed...
But a phone isnt plugged to a powersource all day...
In a 5.5 inch screen.... FHD is great... QHD is excellent and somewhat more than needed... UHD is just insane..
For a very minor quality upgrade(in a 5.5 inch size ) a lot more of power is consumed... Sony devices are known for their excellent batteries and powersaving mode..however z5 premium cant have a good batterylife with that power hungry but probably gorgeous screen.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2015So still no ois and even smaller pixels? :/They don't call it OIS.
But there is magnet-controlled-camera-sensor-gyro-feedback-based kind of technology... lol
So technically it is not OIS but does similar job.
It is already used in Z4/Z3+, Google it up.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2015I will buy the Z5 premium if it use Samsung Exynos 7420 APU... moreI definitely wouldn't, Exynos support for AOSP (and 3rd-party ROMs such as CM) has been historically less than good, with people frequently needing to hack their way around to get the basics working.
