They sholud wait a few more months and give us 820 cpu and Android M, that should made them really desirable. Now I feel like waiting for next series will be right thing.

AnonD-152638, 03 Sep 2015Yeah, but we don't know why he said that.
It's still true.... more1080P = available on almost all TVs today
4K = available on all premium TVs today
so Sony having 1080p and 4k phones make sense, who cares about QHD? it's like who wants 720p when there's 1080p? and who wants QHD when there's 4K?

viveksubhash, 03 Sep 2015i don't see how 2k is more premium than 4kit's not.
what you have to realize though is 2K is a sliding term. 2K can be 1080p, just in a different aspect ratio, 2048x1080 in 17:9. but then there's 2048x1152 and 2048x1536 if you have non-square pixels.
But people started denoting QHD as 2K which is just odd.

Dreal, 03 Sep 2015Definitely excited for the Z5 compact or simply the Zx comp... moreDon't expect Android M to bring batterylife improvements.
If you can survive without data/wifi on all the time, Sony already has it's stamina mode.
If you rely on data/wifi for apps (like whatsapp, or other Voip/meassing apps), that energy saving mode in Android M will probably pause data/wifi, or at least those apps, anyhow.
The SD820 might very well be more energy efficient however. But keep in mind that these uses underclocked SD810, and a SD820 running at full clockspeed might not be more energy efficient than that.
And the next compact should not be expected for another year.
And if you look at the Z3 release, it was released with the SD801, the same one as the Z2 before it. And the Note came with the SD805.
So the next compact might feel just as outdated in terms of SOC when it gets released.
There is always something better if you wait.
But keep in mind that you have to live with something worse (what you already got), until you get it. Are you then really better off?

viveksubhash, 03 Sep 2015currently the only thing amiss about this is lack of any ce... moreSony Ericssone used unnamed glass for the Xperia Active.
Sure, it has a small display, so it's hard to judge.
But my friend had dropper her.s several of times, there are now dents in the metal frame, and pieces of missing plastic from the front. And we are talking headheight drops here.
But the display has survived without any marks on it.
I would not expect the Z5s to survive the same drops.
But don't be sure it's not as good as branded glass.

viveksubhash, 03 Sep 2015i don't see how 2k is more premium than 4kI think he/she thinks, he/she would be getting good gaming performance out of the device with 2K instead of 4K, and therefore thinks that 2K is better.
But then 1080p, would be better still.
And 720p much better.
You really can't judge batterylife yet.
But the Note 4, S6, Note 5, all did pretty good compared to the 1080 predecessors.
So if the GPU is efficient, it should not have to work that hard to draw the OS and scale webpages, and usual apps, in 4K.
So there should not be that much of a punish on the batterylife, because of the higher resolution.
When it comes to display draw of the battery, well the backlight in LCDs is the fact that really affects batterylife, and that is a size issue, not a resolution issue. The reason why a big android tablet with the same resolution but, the same SOC and a bigger battery than a phone, still does worse in terms of browsing and watching videos when it comes to batterylife. When it comes to OLED screens, higher resolutions means that each led is smaller, thus draws less energy, so that the over all consumption shouldnt be more.

It's still true.
It's a bit of an odd move.
Since Sony will probably not release a new flagship for a year. Perhaps a + model in the spring, but the next major release is probably a year away.
That means they won't have a QHD device for a year.
If they liked resolution so much that they felt they had to release a 4K mobile.
Should they not also like resolution so much that they would at least equip the Z5 with QHD?
It doesnt really make sense.
Unless.. well this is sony.
HD is a standard format.
Full HD is a standard format.
4k/Ultra HD is a standard format.
QHD isn't actually a standard format, feels more like a parantese, invented only because Full HD felt old, and 4K/Ultra HD was just too expensive. It's on some computer monitors, a few tablets, and a few laptops, and some phones.

It doesnt say here.
But the Sony SBH54 bluetooth headset's battery/display/mic unit, like with the SBH52 before it, can be used as a handset for your phone, without the headphones. And now that unit isn't clumpsy when you use it with headphones, as the SBH52, which felt more like a handset with headphone functionality built in.
