Nokia 6300 is the new Nokia star in the Series 40 3rd Edition line. It attacks with conservative design, miniUSB, and a slim body with steel plates. The famous Finnish mobile manufacturer has been long expected to launch a new high-end, classic-look phone with state-of-the-art functional menu to substitute the enormously successful couple Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i.

Below average battery life as compared to other 6 series models (mega talkers beware!). Volume buttons on the side hard to press especially when held closer to the ear during a conversation. No 3G. Earphone above the screen could have been louder; a definite problem in a crowded place (I tried pressing the phone as close to my ear as possible in a restaurant to hear the person on the other side of the line but it was hard). Average navigation key functionality especially the upper key is hard to press as it is quite close to the screen and you invariably end up either smudging the screen with your thumb or to save the screen, accidentally pressing the center button (I recommend using the nail of your thumb to press the upper navi key correctly). Not recommended for people with above average size fingers. The blue lights on sides of the phone only blink twice for an incoming message alert but not indefinitely. Weird! This seems useless since one already gets to find out about the incoming message through the sound and/or vibration alert. The cool blue lights should do more like continue to blink and remind me about my unread messages till I read them. In my opinion this can be fixed with a software upgrade by Nokia.

I have had this phone for a year, the only problem was I would call someone and they couldn't hear me, but that got fixed. Besides that problem it is an excellent phone. It is cheap and has everything you need. Plus, its common so there is heaps of themes to download. The camera is great despite other comments. It is easy to use, and the model is great, there is no slide, flip touch or anything else which makes it mainly unbreakable, besides the screen (all phones have a breakable screen though) Even though its pretty plain and boring you can rely on it for its real use (calling and texts). The music player is great. Video isn't that good (what did you expect though?). Overall excellent phone, extremely reliable and sturdy. Made of metal and hard plastic. And the main thing is it is EASY to use! I recommend it for first time phone owners and people who don't want frills, who just want a phone that does its job (which is exactly what it does). But if you are looking for a phone which is heaps of fun to play with you will be bored to death of this phone (thats why I'm upgrading). So I score this phone 9/10 (1 point off because it is boring).

I think this is a great phone. The display is great. I especially like that it supports Flash albeit only Flash 6. I have made my own animated Flash wallpaper for my phone. The mini-usb is a great idea, i had nothing but trouble trying to connect with the Pop-port on previous phones. The battery is also awesome, something i come to expect from Nokia and the main reason why i have always had one. I charge mine about once a week, but even under heavy use, i still only had to do it every 2-3 days. It charges in about an hour. I like too that it support mp3 ringtones, i have downloaded some to the phone from my pc through the mini-usb.
Best Nokia i have had so far. Previously, i have had the 5110, 3100 and 6101 and have plans to get the awesome 5730 or 6760 next.
Nokia Rocks!
