Nokia 6300 review: The slim Finn

02 April 2007
Nokia 6300 is the new Nokia star in the Series 40 3rd Edition line. It attacks with conservative design, miniUSB, and a slim body with steel plates. The famous Finnish mobile manufacturer has been long expected to launch a new high-end, classic-look phone with state-of-the-art functional menu to substitute the enormously successful couple Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i.

Cezar, you might want to check mobile-review.com. They are "nicer" towards SE and most Nokias are poor.

i tried to take original bl4c batery out and put inside bl5c by cuting some edge with knife but that did not work out.

sometimes it gets gotbut thats so rear that i did not even noticed it. the brightest screen i have ever seen in Nokias and the slimmnest design similar to 8800 are the best advantages.

Nice detailed review...it leaves out, however, any info on the release of the 850 version.
I'd love to buy the phone, but need 850 for the U.S.

yeah i almost saw that kind of word in the review of K800,W850 and so much more. the "ancient" word is never used with nokias qcif phones. neither any of nokia's s40 phones don't have an api to enhance video capabilities of their camera capabilities while SE have K800,K790,W850,W710,k610,K550,K810,Z610,W660,W580 and Z750 enabling video enhancing features like increasing the frames per second(FPS),resolution of their video and even enhancing the camera possibilities like point focusing, white balance calibration, ISO and much much more. this is possible with the help of JP-7 platform because SE is specialized in making java enabled phones in which some nokia fanboys always bashes SE's java phones while not knowing anything about it. so i seem to agree with the guy with no name that gsmarena is kinda biased to nokia's s40 phones.

hands down you'll know who's better Jp-8 vs S40 3rd edition. just look at their own developer's site and see it's available APIs and compare who's having more and better APIs. this site must be fair with reviewing all phones. avoid bias attitudes!

got it like a 3-4 weeks back
i love this fone ..the screen is amazing....im a SE fanboy btw and was using the k790i b4 this
and dont regret the switch all that much...its relatively cheap
                  but i want the 5700 now :(

                  disadvantages:
                  gotta charge it evryday
talk for more than 15-20mins... and my EAR gets HOT

GSMArena why dont you say 'ANCIENT QCIF resolution' as you do in all SE phones, for 6300 QCIF is not ancient? biased site!!

Bought this phone approx a month ago.

                            Advantages:

                            - very slim and ergonomic (the best change for 6100)
                            - nice metal finishes (very similar feel to 8800)
                            - very large and perfect screen (best in nokias)
                            - large fonts in phonebook and massaging (big helps for eldery)
                            - very fast sortware comparing to any smart phone
                            - generally very good for daily use and business, easy to carry

                            Disadvantages

                            - weak battery (if you are a hard user, prepare for dayly charge)
                            - no 3g or wireless
                            - small email size, only 300kb

Nokia does not always make the best phones, but their UI is much better than others by far. Moto being worse, SE is decent but other than for playing music, the Nokia S40 or S60 UI is just much better.

no more comments in the UI of the S40 and S60s. it's great but bear in mind that the UI in all SE models simply kicks it down as far as intuitiveness is concerned.

it would be nice if this phone was a slider.
