Nokia 6300 review: The slim Finn

02 April 2007
Nokia 6300 is the new Nokia star in the Series 40 3rd Edition line. It attacks with conservative design, miniUSB, and a slim body with steel plates. The famous Finnish mobile manufacturer has been long expected to launch a new high-end, classic-look phone with state-of-the-art functional menu to substitute the enormously successful couple Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i.

      Real BAD choice. Images are saved in numbers: Image 009, no date or time stamp in file name. Beep Alerts are unhearable. Above all NONE of the third party archiving and cataloging programs works woith Nokia 6300. UYoua re LIMITED to the so ugly Nokia PC Suite.
      I switched fom Nokia 6600i and disappointed that I had.

              What Nokia forgot to tell you in 6300's ad that you've got to be aware of a possible design/production flaw in 6300 or maybe a faulty batch of the phones released to the market worlwide. The flaw results in the phone is "losing" memory card: suddenly the memory card disappears from the Gallery menu. Sometimes it suddenly re-appears, but not for long, in a couple of minutes it's gone again. You may find any complains about this here: http://discussions.nokia.co.uk/discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=17758 but you will not find any Nokia's reaction. None there, none in media, none in field. And this is not the only flop. The named board is full of complaints about 6300 of all kinds.
              Whatever this phone looks fancy, featured with stuff, etc., it's underdone. Add here Nokia's reaction (or actually, no reaction, disregarding the complaints), yeild totally frustrated customers. Wanna join them?

                Our friend Shakeel from Pakistan, just wondering, did you work with other phone manufacture which makes you only take about cons of this phone and nothing about pros.And i found out that some cons is not a matter at all but created by you.

                The phonebook is not good?
                Well, will SE's avarage phonebook or Motorola's poor phonebook better than this?
                I dare not say.And i dare not say this as bad or good too, just an avarage will do.

                              My new all-time fave phone. It's perfect and does everything I need! It lacks 3G but it excels at everything else that I require. This is one of Nokia's very best!

                                Does the 6300 have a world clock? Does it have a translator? A world clock and a 6-language translator are found in the 6230i. Those features should be present in the 6300 being a replacement to the 6230i.

                                    I have NEVER thought of GSMArena pickup up for Nokia phones and being biased towards other brands. GSMArena gives each phone their props when they deserve it. Take into account the Nokia 6230, it praised it, rightfully so as it's one of the GREATEST cell phone ever made...and then take into account the K750, that got a bigger main review and more overall reviews than any other phone. In fact, I always thought GSMArena not being in favour of the Nokia brand, whereas some of you people think the other way around.

                                      @Cezar
                                      That's very easy, - they have different testers, one could say ancient, the other one might have different opinion.

                                      As for 'GSMarena nokia bias' that is rediculous, i suggest you check out their N73 vs. K800 camera comparison, they trashed N73, even though it has generally better camera.
                                      So i gues it all depends on who is testing and wrighting review..

                                        This phone looks like the t610 from sony ericsson. That phone is not that old to be copied by other company withought no one noticing. I hate copies!
