But knowing I can keep talking to friends whilst walking in the rain is a feature. Feeling safe enough to film my daughter swimming for the first time, not worried about splashes....
I think Samsungs' true advantage is 'no little rubber caps' over usb jacks (that have to be finger nailed hundreds and hundreds of times, and 'in place' for water resistance to work...)

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2016Can anyone explain this to me, why? I dont know much about ... moreCorrect (when displaying all/mostly black it saves power by not backlighting the whole screen)
Perfect fit for the technology of 'always on', unless you have an always on device that you want fully lit up.
LCD screens run a backlight (that three layers of closed pixels cannot fully contain/isolate), that leaks out light, hence the black value on LCDs being unable to be 'pure'.
OLEDs, the individual pixels light up.
Bright white screens on OLED displays consume more power than the LCD equivalents.
LCDs typically had brighter screens than OLEDS. There has been improvements in the last couple of years. Whilst OLEDS will have 'unlimited contrast ratios' their ability to have great performance in sunlight has only recently caught up. (Last couple of years)
Image retention can be an issue for all screen technologies (crt included), in worst case scenarios.
The example given in this thread of 'go look at OLED screens that have been displaying a static screen at 100% brightness' is a great example.
Over the phones typical life OLED is a perfect tech.

They could've added 0.5mm or 1mm thickness so they could have more room to work with battery size.

This feature shouldn't cause any burn-in. As for Nokia's implementation just do an image search for "Nokia sleeping screen" and you'll get the idea. Anyway, if you get one of these phones, looks like a good choice to me. And the feature should probably be easy to turn off.

The S7 duo is on my wanted list but i would probably turn the always-on-feature off anyway. I haven't seen or use N8 so i don't know how well that feature fare on your phone, but, good for you man.

AnonD-454209, 21 Feb 2016Amoled screens with always on feature is a big no. Still a ... moreWhy not? I have this feature on my Nokia N8, it's a 2010 phone (I've had mine for almost 3 years), the display still looks almost as good as new. I can always see the time (it turns off when in pocket through proximity sensor so it's not always on), I know if I have missed calls or messages, and I see where my phone is in the dark. Good job Samsung for finally bringing this feature.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2016Can anyone explain this to me, why? I dont know much about ... moreYou could just go to Samsung Store and check their displayed product. Their latest product, Galaxy S6 and Note 5 still suffers from screen burn in when you put on a still images/screen with 100% brightness at 24/7 always on screen. I don't know why some lifeless Samsung fanboy below commenting to see display quality on another tech site. It's not about quality, it's about durability. Believe your own eyes. Samsung's amoled display is inarguably the best screen until today. I use a Note 5 from 3 months ago and its screen still doing great, doesn't suffer from screen burn-in. But hey, their engineers probably has figured out something to prevent the S7 duo from that.

No USB 3.0 and 12 megapixels ?
So they drive the quality down when releasing new high-end phones these days ?
How retarded are these strategies ?
Call me when you get the features up and a removable battery.
Really disappointed with Samsung on this one.
And I have been using Samsung phones for the last 14 years !
