My one and only true concern is the software they have.
I have seen/used many MiUi phones and honestly they are FAR from snappy because the software feels very heavy and bloated.
MiUi is for people who are patient because the phone takes its time to do things, though beautifully.

Hope the software is much better on this one.

With personal exp of redmi note3 - the basic one, 16 gb.
I would not recommend to buy any xiomi yet. I am iphone6user and got lured by redmi note3's spec, well i just used it for a month and i gave up. And switch back to iphone again.
The problems from many, i don want to root first of all, do want to use as in general, this phone gives me a lot of stresses everyday while i am in busy for work. Sms shows me first line of text within half of letter(cut it horizontally), getting slow after 2 weeks when do multitasking, miui isn really good to use, looks copy of ios but slow and uncomfortable, fingerprints scanner is only one i can say no 1 and better than iphone and samsung.
YouTube doesn't work, cannot install my bank app, vodafone app, phew too much stressed. It is only chiniese user can be happy, and battery is 4000, wow i charged 100% and use it one mins then it goes to 94%. No meaningful of 4000. I feel i used my 1yr old iphon which is already sucks in terms of battery life.
Overall, don buy it now, miui still not optimised a lot of bloatware as well. Buy samsung or huawei , they work the os for global. Xiaomi sucker is just trolls from china.

"E - is for edge , H - is for 3g a... moreyes, exactly. but it doesnt have antenna problem. if the signal is really good, like in the highway, my phone will really get LTE and it's really LTE-fast. but in our house, where the signal is poor, the antenna quality now comes into play. my sister's iphone can still get at least H+ in her phone, but mine can only get E (edge). in the Philippines, edge means no internet connection which is pretty stupid (Im also talking to you NTC, and all ass networks in the Philippines). meaning i cannot use data in our house. my brother's LG g3 can also get signal but not as good as my sis' iphone 6. mine is a lumia 735, and i have another lumia phone, both have poor signal in our house, which means nokia phones may have generally poor antenna quality.

I'm very much wondering why users don't talk about quality of antenna. but some users say that sony and iphone 6 antennas are exceptionally better in getting more signal, whereas samsungs are the poorest. but no reports on the affordable phones like xiaomi and asus. and that's what i wanted to know. I dont want to spend money on another phone that cannot use data in our house.

Would anyone consider these before galaxy s7? Any opinions welcome

how about the strength of antenna? in the place like the Philippines, antenna strength is also important. just some experience, i have a nokia phone with LTE and my sis has iphone 6 plus. we both have same carrier, our place has really poor signal, but my sister can get at least H+, while i can only get E (which means no internet here). then i researched about signal strength, and found that it's not just about being LTE capable, or have the compatible bands. It's also about how strong the antenna can grab signal. i also found that so far, iphone 6/plus (not other iphones) and sony in general have good antennas, while samsungs have really poor strengths. apparenty, the ugly external antenna of iphone 6 works like charm in getting more signal. unfortunately, nothing much has been reported on other brands like asus and xiaomi. asus and xiaomi really entice me because of its affordability, but without knowledge about signal strength i cannot make up my mind.

so my question is, given that xiaomi has really impressive specs, how does xiaomi phones fair against other brands in terms of signal strength? :/
