Samsung Galaxy S7 edge review: Stargate

14 March, 2016
Pushed way out of its comfort zone and into a high-stakes flagship redesign last season, Samsung’s back to what it does best - making itself comfortable at the top of the heap. OK, it sounds like a bold claim but by no means incredible if you’ve seen the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Ray, 15 Mar 2016iPhone 5s still faster on iOS 9.. galaxy s5 was a much lagg... moreNot in my experience.

And it still doesn't change that iOS is crippled and it was frustrating to use. All I wanted to do was look something up on the internet and I felt like throwing it out of the window.

as an iphone user I m pretty much disappointed that samsung reduced the phone bezels, I am pretty much used to big bezels as they increase the length of my phone which makes it feel more premium. I feel sorry for samsung users.

Been using this phone for a few days and very impressed. Touchwizz is very polished and very configurable, you can even disable most of the built in google and Samsung apps. Battery life is good and the camera is amazing. Build quality is top notch too.

After seeing all three successors, I can safely say that edge screen functionality offered by note edge was badass. I would also love to see the people's edge and edge lightning on note edge.
Secondly, it is really impressive to see that a 4 years old nokia 808 pureview is still holding its ground in the sunlight contrast ratio department with score of 4.698. Only s6 edge+ has come near it with score of 4.615. Really, come back nokia.

AnonD-514963, 15 Mar 2016Would GSMARENA kindly indicate when doing the Samsung Galax... moreIt's not that important because when you buy the S7 Edge like I did, it won't tell you which camera sensor it is on the specifications. So you are stuck with what you have. Just drank with it. I'm sure they are both great.

Sure, the s5 is slightly newer, but seeing as how speed and seamless performance is supposed to be the only advantage of iphones it was disappointing nonetheless.

Would GSMARENA kindly indicate when doing the Samsung Galaxy Tests, which camera Sensor the test unit actually has.

What happened with the S6 is that all the reviews were conducted using S6s which had the Sony Sensors, and these produce sterling results upon which consumers base their decision to acquire the handset.

However, when the phone goes into mass production, Samsung starts fitting them with their own Isocell sensors. Say what they will, the images produced by these 2 sensors are not the same, and the Sony does produce the more superior image.

                          BTW, I'm a user of a S6, with a Isocell sensor.

Camera is very good, only LG G5 can match this beast in 2016

I got an S7 Edge (after my LG G2) and while it is a great phone in some aspect, it does have some annoyances:

                                      - Lack of double-tap to wake is a major drawback
                                      - The Always-On screen does not display all notifications, only missed calls and SMS messages.
                                      - The notification LED cannot be easily controlled by 3rd party apps like LightFlow or Light Manager.

The LG G5 seems to be better in all of these areas, but the battery life of the G5 will probably be quite disappointing (but let's wait and see...).
