LG G5 review: Evening the odds

22 March, 2016
Someone at LG must have thought: “Leather is so last-year, let’s do something nobody has done – or long quit trying.” And here we have the LG G5. It has the looks of a brand new flagship, the heart of a dragon and an adventurous dual camera setup suited for every occasion. But there’s more than meets the eye, the Magic Slot. The LG G5 is a modular smartphone, which lets you plug a handful of external add-ons: a semi-pro camera grip with shutter buttons and a bigger battery, or an external sound amplifier by B&O.

ThanosB75, 30 Mar 2016In order not to forget the REAL Truth about LG G5!!! LG G... moreI had every phone that came out last year. And ended up with the Moto x style.
But this year the s 7 edge is by far the best phone.. Amoled burn .. Never ever had an issue with it.built quality of the g5 is terrible (check the reviews) the g5 screen is terrible bleeding all over the place. The all metal phone is a plastic coted phone with dents and bumps. The module has a gap. And the battery is bad no idea why they didn't try to upgrade it to at least 3000 mha battery my guess is they say it's removable . that still does not justify it. Do no no matter what you say this phone is rubbish and it does not deserve to be a flagship. Even the g4 was better

Besides the removeable battery, there is nothing else this phone had been done right. You can't even guarantee the modular system will be carry on to the next year's phone. Let's wait for the v10 successor.

g4 is beter than g5 because g5 just have 1 new thing.

I wouldn't entertain buying another LG phone after having the LG G2, G3 & Currently the G4, I had no issues at all with the G2 or G3 and loved them, but then I bought the G4, It has been plagued with issues and it is currently away being repaired by LG in the UK, they have had the phone for 10 weeks now, I have the bootloader issue that was eventually recognised as a fault by LG, but they are very slow in repairing the device and their customer service is the worst I have ever come across, don't get me wrong, I like LG Phones, but for the above reason I would never ever buy a LG Device again as I cannot do without my phone for 10 weeks. That said, I think the LG G5 is ugly looking in comparison to other top Manufacturers (Samsung, HTC etc), yes they have a bit of innovation with the pull out battery and the add ons, but I don't this this alone will sell the device as people want a top phone with top specs included and not have to pay top price again for the additional attachments. Stay away from LG, their Customer Service is useless as I have personally found out and also read in loads of forums.

Seb, 29 Mar 2016Amoled has some flaws; at low brightness the screen gets... moreAmoled is controlled very well at low brightness.
All if done right. Same lime lcd. It's calibration not just the tech.

Burn in its not common. And lcd can have is own issues of dead pixels, back lighting, bleeding, and such.

Samsungs Amoled have had a mode that make them the most accurate for a long time now.
And again. Calibration. Most lcds are very actuated or have poor white balance too. And its from simple lack of calibration.
The difference is you can't change this on most like you can with Samsung.

White balance is also where they have been among the best.

They are way more overall efficient. And yes they degrade over time. But it's over long periods of time and only bit by bit.
And actually have been rapidly improving their live expectancy. They will last years with little to no degradation.

You need to get away from 2009/2010 Amoled and experience 2016 S7 Amoled
