LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 edge: Low-light shooting

04 April, 2016
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the LG G5 both come outfitted with some great cameras, which should potentially bring low-light photography with a smartphone on the next level. We set out on foot on the streets of New York to put these two to the ultimate camera test - their image quality when it comes to shooting in the dark.

Can't wait for the HTC m10 to be put in,in comparison like this. That would be actually a nexus 6p with optical image stabilisation, and am wondering if that could be the second phone this season to put sammy to a shame.
My expectations are high, and this could be the closest fight (between flagships)since 2013

My wise guess is that they were using test/demo units from MWC during their previous shootout. Have a look at the publication dates of both camera shootouts

I get that not everyone fiddles with manual ISO settings, but shouldn't a fixed ISO setting with HDR on or off for same scenarios on both phones provide a better example of true capabilities vs everyday point and shoot condition?

... do many people take photos at night outdoors?
Had a look at my current phone gallery and most of my night shots are indoors (mainly pubs - maybe I'm an alcoholic!!)

LG clearly takes the better quality low light images in general.
                  Well done LG.
Too many impractical & missing features for me to consider getting it - but they deserve kudos in this department.

Any word if the G5 saw any improvements in image processing for this to happen? As far as I know it has the same camera as the G4 and V10, so this comparison may be more of a case for getting them at a discount than the G5.
