LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 edge: Low-light shooting

04 April, 2016
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the LG G5 both come outfitted with some great cameras, which should potentially bring low-light photography with a smartphone on the next level. We set out on foot on the streets of New York to put these two to the ultimate camera test - their image quality when it comes to shooting in the dark.

Any person that knows anything about photography can tell that there isn't even a contest, the S7 camera is far superior to the G5. The S7 is at least 2 stops better at noise handling, the G5 picture has noise even at base ISO. Resolution means nothing. If you take the S7 in a vacation and shoot RAW pictures you can obtain great memories after some Lightroom tweaking. With the G5, the RAW images are so flawed that you can't get anything useful out of them.

Wait for the DXOMark to give its review of the G5 camera. Those people really know how to evaluate camera sensors.

well have you setted the night mode for the samsung when shooting in low light/night conditions? Samsung's phones don't use slow shutter speeds in auto mode.

So, the G5 is better for tripod low light shots whilst the S7 wins all the handheld shots. Seeing as I never use a tripod in mobile photography the S7 is the winner for my needs.

"bigger battery", because just by by carrying a spare you don't suddenly have 5600 MaH with LG G5 ... oh wait you do ... but I'm sure such nuanced arguments completely miss the thoughts of those that think that MaHs are everything...

I think the first example showed better contrast and exposure with the S7.
And of course they would only do one indoor low light shot where the the true low light test showed the S7 shining.

AnonD-42959, 05 Apr 2016this still wont make the g5 a better option than the s7 edg... moreSo Samsung's laggy touchwiz and a design wich has nothing about ergonomy makes it better? And in how much time you get updates from Samsung, never? LG G5 is a good phone, and all Samsung fanboys will accept that after some time.

After a dashing compare it is found that LG G5'S camera is better than SAMSUNG GALAXY S7edge.the manual mode is bit any camera in the Mobile industry.where the Samsung's display was pretty good bright but contrast level is destroying actual colour.

I have a G4 and I feel like the low light shooting of the G4 looks better than the G5 because of better post processing (less noise reduction). Some of the noise reduction I saw here from the G5 is scary! Look at the faces in the restaurant scene. I have a low light restaurant scene taken with lollipop G4 and it had clear faces with visible noise for fine details. I noticed with Marshmallow results became worse.

Lg G5 is most good in different positions in camera, where s7edge is extra bright as like previous s6edge and s6edge+.

I like the looks of s7 but when it comes to benchmarks camera ui i think no one can beat G5 i really like that phone but will wait for g6 aur v10 successor

16:9 ratio is the reason i sold my iphone
and now samsung 4:3 ratio sensor it sucks

the wide camera its a winning thing not yet valued
