Sony Xperia X review: Rated X

20 May, 2016
There's a shift of command in the house of Xperia. The Sony Xperia X and its two siblings are taking over from the Xperia Z. A dynasty has come to an end. We hear the C and M families are being put out to pasture as well, soon it will be all X top to bottom.

You all should try this X in person to know what it really is_ somehow the reviews are just of one's opinion. Sony asks for a premium price but not like apple though their phones look equally premium. In my opinion, you will never appreciate an Xperia if you haven't used one in person. It just feels good and it won't break no matter how you drop it. :)

I hope X Performance will have those because I get used to SmallApps and use them a lot almost every day...if not it will be hard to adopt such change for me :(

you have photos taken with the X in the review so judge camera quality for yourself . imo it's of great quality.

            Cant believe theres no Smallapps.

One of Sony's best exclusive features and they got rid of it.

Absolutely stupid. Typical Sony logic nowadays.

UI is the only thing thats good on this.

What is Sony thinking? I honestly have no clue on direction Sony mobile division is heading, Sony shouldn't even announce this X series at all. Its quite not that interesting and pretty disappointed. I mean its like a step back for Sony. Honestly, the phone itself has nothing new, excepts: predictive auto focus, metal back and curve display. As much as I love to Sony previous products and satisfied with the z5 compact, but for me to anxiously hear about the launch of this phone and spec sheet... NO THANKS Sony you've just lost a loyal fan.

              Cons:
-overpriced for a midrange (mediocre chipset performance)
              -poor audio quality
              -no water resistant
              -shorter battery life
-z3 compact alike design (just a curved glass and back metal)
              -no small app for multitasking
              -no 4k
-camera and video interface is the same
-video and camera performance is still avg at best.

Honestly I've had z3c and currently using z5c, both were great phones and I love it. However for Sony to market the X series as a beginning chapter of Xperia's? PLEASE SONY RECONSIDER A SECOND THOUGHT BEFORE LAUNCHING THE X SERIES...WHY SONY...WHYYYY?

Not bad, but battery is a let down. Let's see what the X performance can do.

It's the worst overpriced midrange phone.

                      Camera is noisy.
                      Screen isn't the best.
                      Audio quality isn't the best.

You better get S7 or G5

Price is quite literally everything when it comes to midrange. If it wasn't for price you'd buy a flagship after all, that's kinda the point. Its completely shameless to be selling a midrange for 600 euros when you can get a flagship like the s7 for as low as 560 euros on eBay. It doesn't even have the best midrange chip either

Not even their flagship is worth 600 euros since it doesn't have 1440p, has less ram, and can't record 4k.

As for the chip set, the Sd 652, would have made more sense at this price, as would IP68. Sony have got this one wrong!

I think that sony has decided to throw away the 4K video shoot from the X series becuse, seriously now,who in this world takes 4K videos with a sony xperia ? You can't even make a 1 minute 4K movie without geting the phone warm and the camera app stop working.

Its the best in its class phone....
All flagshipworthy features in sound, camera, screen, software, with high end mid SoC.
                                Extraordinary good benchmark results.
We can only wonder how good X performance will perform :-)
People with enough cash and respect for quality will buy this beauty. ;-)

P.S. They forgot to mention qnovo battery tech...

Wow, a Lumia 640 does a few things better? Better loudspeaker, better sound quality, better battery life and also has Gorilla Glass 3? Not to mention the comparable screen quality (even if it's lower res) and overall performance because WP it's a less resource hungry OS. If a 30 f#cking bucks does all those better, why on earth would anyone buy this phone that's as expensive as a competitor's flagship like the Galaxy S7? Sony has gone nuts.

@SONY, I'm looking for a job as a manager. I could save your ass, so just hire me.

Why on earth would I buy this phone, please, anyone?

Looks like sony has stopped trying. And can't they just reduce the resolution of the main camera a bit? Because they clearly would benefit from larger pixel sizes, since their noise reduction algorithms are clearly not up to the job.
