Sony Xperia X review: Rated X

20 May, 2016
There's a shift of command in the house of Xperia. The Sony Xperia X and its two siblings are taking over from the Xperia Z. A dynasty has come to an end. We hear the C and M families are being put out to pasture as well, soon it will be all X top to bottom.

H.265 supports 4K video recording and playing natively. The biggest one think all phones with h.265 player will records 4K, including this phone and upcoming Low end xperia e5. How pathetic he is.

He desperated to find something better in this phone compared to others. I understand he was too excited when he found there is bigger number in X whitepaper compared to S7. Then he googled it, found an article about it, read it too fast. He was too happy, he jumped around and run then made a knee slide on the floor.

so.. sony is not more than an overpriced average-class phone, nothing special about it.

Sony has the best build quality compared to samsung.

And I don't know how you can claim Sony fans aren't dense when the biggest one here keeps dreaming of Sony having 4k recording and thinks any random feature will magically make the phone capable. Its a similar story with other aspects of their phones and it simply isn't possible to have a rational discussion with Sony fans.

Although Apple switch to oled, it does not mean that lcds are overshadowed; lcds can always be improved and look just as good. Yes, the battery life is only 2000+mah; however, you can always turn on the Stamina mode and eliminate any unnecessary apps running.

[deleted post]I must say that the supporters of Sony here are not the ones who are dense. I'm really sure it is the other way around. I think it's because they have failed to see what Sony offers, haven't had an Xperia/long enough to have experience or blacklisted the company.

I have stated in my old post that Sony is not a total garbage company. Again, I have owned multiple devices and it's safe for me to say that they're among the companies who value quality over anything else. They're a Japanese company and I really know what Japanese people are, at least not saying this in a stereotypical manner. They're among the best countries in the world in terms of ethics.

Sony IS a good company but I have to admit that their marketing is among the worst. I HAVE BECOME a fanboy because I started to like what they have to offer, quality. It is not a dream that they're a good company, IT'S A REALITY. I would not say they're a perfect company, but good in some areas.

I'll pass on this 4K argument.

Smartphones, specifically flagship ones are not always about competitive specs. Flagship means it's the best the company has to offer, not some high-end stuff slapped into it. Sure, it doesn't have the "quantity" but I'm pretty it has got "quality." Specs vs real-world. What's the point if you have it, let's say 4K recording? Is it really necessary? I doubt it. Most of the features smartphones have today are nothing but novelty. Yes, it's nice to have something than none, but is it really necessary? Does it add to you or change you in any way?

Here is Sony at 'Chapter 3' of their Xperia lineup for 2016-2018, which states "Xperia for new communication," meaning that their X series are no longer here for competitive specs. Their aim now is to improve, add and change the smartphone experience, hence "Xperia."

                            Read the rest here: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/press_release/sony-mobile-introduces-an-evolution-of-the-xperia-brand-to-redefine-communications/

If you want competitive specs then I'm sorry to say but Sony has moved on to that. That was their "Chapter 2" from 2013-2015 and those were the Z series. But today is a different story.

I've recently compared GSMA's recently released PaV comparison tool samples of Zenfone Max, Mi Max, Xperia X, and HTC 10. The first two, as I expected, underperformed against Nexus 5X and Moto X Force. Meanwhile, the latter two, which I thought would outperform the 5X and X Force, is pretty up there but not quite; Xperia X's and HTC 10's GSMA samples still were not enough to impress me. But I would say Xperia X's samples, albeit donning a weaker or less than high-end SoC and with no 2160p video recording was on par with HTC 10's when tuned to equal scaling; sometimes even outshines the HTC 10 on the level of detail. Now waiting for X Performance samples
