OnePlus 3 review: Confidence booster

24 June 2016
A great act is tough to follow and sometimes delivering two great devices in a row requires that you take a completely different approach with the successor. Now on its third "flagship killer" (with the OnePlus X taking a different path), OnePlus has taken on the tough task to mature from a business standpoint, while still retaining that ambitious "never settle" attitude that brought it where it is today.

The SD810 on the 6P is no longer the best and it tends to overheat as well, which will lead to thermal throttling. The iphones can offer great gaming performance as well, if you don't mind iOS.

At 5.5" 1440p is noticeably better.
This is especially true for pentile Amoled displays. 1080p pentile amoled at 5.5" is quite poor, almost unacceptable.

Op3 has poor display resolution and mediocre battery life. Those are the main problems, and both are potential deal breakers. They're both at least in the top 5 of a typical consumers concerns when buying a phone.

So far this is the best budget flagship killer available in the market right now. It has easily surpassed most of the core departments where the other flagship cost you double the money you are paying for.

Tell me a phone which doesn't over heat?
Tell us the usage of more than 64gb in phone. More storage will definitely hamper the performance.
And all the other features like dust proof, water proof are just fancy words and are not true to their definition. If your phone drops into water, definitely it is gonna down no matter how good it is.

That web browsing time looks weak, almost 1.46 hours short of Oneplus One. Not sure if some optimization can't fix that. The display is outstanding Samsung-esque. Now I can finally recommend this to anyone.

There is however one thing that will remain a huge concern, Oneplus's ability to release android updates within reasonable time frames because so far they have been terrible. I wont be getting one for myself unless XDA guys come out with great custom ROMs but it's great for those who don't know much about being updated with the latest Android out there. If it just works as is for them that's good enough for the price.

Even for a 15.6 inch laptop that resolution is superb. I mean a 768 does the job quite well. I guess something has to be an overkill to impress your kind then you star screaming "It's a gimmick, it's a gimmick, it's worthless". Oh please...

First and fore-most though, since when is 1080p a poor quality screen? 2k is widely acknowledged as being nothing but a battery drain at anything under 7" and the tech itself is the best out there. Your closure of the OP3 having the worst specs of all high-end phones is just pathetic and hugely misguided, it beats the SD powered S7 hands down as well as the LG G5, Sony Z5, Huawei P9 and Mate 8 and more.
The poor 4G/LTE signal is actually more than anyone will get outside of South Korea so cannot be classed as poor. There is no mention of it overheating anywhere that I've read - I research a lot. The battery life is above average for 2016 phones so - again - cannot be called poor. Water-proofing and SD slots can't be singled out when there are dozens - even top competition - that don't have these that cost nearly double. This is OnePlus doing what OnePlus does best. Creating high-end phones that can match the 'big boys' at a much lower price blow for blow.

AnonD-406806, 25 Jun 2016What's a perfect phone? * screen size 5.7"* * battery ... moreMany things could make a phone perfect, but there are various things. Firstly a company will never make a phone perfect for obvious reasons, and secondly priorities differ from people to people. Like you said USB C type, that thing is nothing but a big hype to me, never understood the meaning of it! For me a near perfect phone will be the following, as per current date:

                    - A top notch display, sizing around 5.5-5.8 inches, with as minimal bezels as possbible
                    - As close to stock Android as possible
                    - Fingerprint scanner
                    - A 12 mp camera with a big sensor
                    - Great build quality, that's one of the must (kick out them glass phones, S6, S7, all of them)
                    - Battery around 3500 mAh. It needs to be optimised well, and it also depends on the power efficiency on the SoC, so only a big number might mean nothing at all. Around 9-10 hour of Screen on Time spanning over 36-48 hours will be great
                    - Front facing speaker grill. Don't care mono, stereo etc.
                    - Excellent reception and call quality
                    - After sales support
                    - Priced at a point which won't make you feel you weren't alive

I want to buy a new phone around september and its between this and the Nexus 6P.

The most important factors for me is gaming performance and battery life.

Which phone is better for gaming (Modern Combat 5: Blackout is my only game that I play and it needs to run smooth)? 1+3 or 6P

Battery life shouldnt be worse than my current phone, which is Huawei Ascend G7 with 3,000 mAh... will it be able to get similar battery life or better?

It saddens me 1+ did this to a device that boasts having 6GB of RAM. Before tweaking the max app count is 20. 20!? Shameful! Y'all remember the OPX having issues of performance cuz they LIED of having a 801 snapdragon AB version, but really it was an AA? smh.

                            If too lazeh;
                            1) root, get build prop editor
                            2) search for ro.sys.fw.bg_apps_limit=20 and change to a number no more than 60
                            3) enjoy, spread the word!

66H endurance isnt bad. My Zenfone 2 (64H Endurance on GSMArena's review) always has 3-5H SOT. And OP3 has Dash/VOOC charge,Snapdragon 820,AMOLED Screen,Best UI Style,Good Camera and many more. Its mean still worth for 400$.

I'm waiting ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe's review on this web.
