Moto Z Force Droid review: Toughened up

12 August 2016
This year, Lenovo did the deed of unveiling Motorola’s newest flasgship offerings. These flagship offerings are the Moto Z, which aims to succeed the Moto X, and the Moto Z Force, which is a bigger and badder version of the Moto Z.

Many don't realize the importance of Moto Mods, imagine next year when the Snapdragon 820 starts to age and then all of the sudden Motorola brings a slim ballistic nylon style cover that has a integrated logic board with 4 newer more powerful cores, 4GB more RAM and extra storage.
Like they said, the possibilities are endless and that's why from the start it should be the phone of the year.

Anonymous, 13 Aug 2016"Galaxy Note 7, way more expensive and inferior in all the ... moreIt is inferior. Way more fragile, very uncomfortable to hold due to the edges, you can't put a proper tempered glass screen protector on, battery won't last as long, slower, will probably lag, bad ram management, no front led flash, bad speaker placement, Samsung's AMOLED panels are junk because they get stuck pixels after less than 1 year, hard to fix overall, camera is good but it doesn't have dual tone flash and the LED flash pics look crap, bloatware, signal not as good, KnoX, no proper sources for developers, very slow Android updates, phone will probably get very slow in 1 year of updates just like all Samsung phones to make you want to buy a new one so bad (for example Moto E2 runs Android 6.0 and trashes the S5 in terms of speed and smoothness).
Samsung's quality control is bad, out of 100 Samsung phones 10 - 15 need warranty replacements while with Motorola we always get only 1 - 2 out of 100. Too much of a coincidence to always get the same results over and over again. The list can go on but I want to have a nap.
The only reason they got so successful is because they invested way too much in marketing and many people get Samsungs or Apple because everyone has one and it must be good.
We have a phone shop and a technical service here in Spain and we get to test most phones so I speak from experience not fanboyism.

This phone rocks, I'm waiting for the international version. One of the best cameras, latest hardware, latest updates guaranteed, unique customization option, moto mods, great build quality, durable and a lot more. All this features, and still, cheaper than Korean and Taiwanese flagships.

This is probably the hottest phone 2016 has to offer and yet only 22 comments and most of them negative?
Yeah support the the Koreans, not the people who invented the phone itself.
Everything about this phone is absolutely fantastic. From performance and optimization to design, camera, screen, and built quality. This phone is 100% Motorola, not Lenovo. Motorola has been working for 2 years on this. I don't understand why everyone is calling it Lenovo Moto Z. The box says it all, it has Motorola all over the place, if you dissasemble the phone you can also see on the battery "Motorola". Shitwiz lovers keep the no audio jack comments for yourselves. Samshit will probably copy crapple with the S8 and leave it out too. What will you say then?
This phone will be available worldwide and unlocked just like X Force was.
Why would you get this and not the OnePlus 3? Better battery, better built with a lot higher quality materials, you're not Oxygen OSs beta tester all the time (that thing is full of bugs), a lot faster updates (rocking official Marshmallow on my Moto X 2015 since November bug free), shatterproof, front flash, better multitasking experience, overall faster phone, better screen, Moto Mods, much better signal quality (nothing beats the Motorola antennas because all the networks use Motorola repeaters) and the list can go on. It justifies the price. Check out the Galaxy Note 7, way more expensive and inferior in all the aspects. It's just a S7 Edge with an integrated C-Pen. Yet people went crazy about it.
In this world full of ignorants, there is no surprise the smartphone market is rulled by a copycat and the overpriced crapple.
Also, why isn't anyone mentioning the fact that Samsung, LG, HTC, Huawei and the rest never update their lower end and mid range smartphones, so app developers can make apps on the new SDK versions and keep them super optimized with the latest things? That's the main problem with Android apps compared to iOSs. They should be FORCED to update the phones.

Interesting that it beat the Snapddrahon S7 edge in battery life despite a slightly smaller battery. Dat Motorola optimization/stock like software though!

None of them provide anything compelling. I guess for a small niche they are good but overall the entire feature is not particularly handy. Most of those things can be achieved with other accessories, that work with most devices, are better quality, at the cost of not fitting snug on the back of your phone.

Note7 samples in Photo and Video Compare Tool are already up prior to its full review but Moto Z and Z Force have not been uploaded yet while they already have been recently reviewed. Is it because of both being Droid editions which are USA exclusive? It's not like they weren't able to review the S7's or S7e's Snapdragon variants which are USA exclusive too. What's the hold up and why is GSMA taking this long? Also, it just occurred to me that though they got to review performance and battery endurance rating for Exynos or Snapdragon variants of the S7 series, they did not specify which variant were the samples on their compare tool while they got to do so with Redmi Note 3's MediaTek and Snapdragon variants. I hope they specify it this time with the Note7 and Moto Z duo

The regular moto z makes decent photos in all conditions, it dissapoints a bit in low light, but every phone has problems with low light. Hell, even cameras have problems. I read your comments in the other review too, you're here just to bash. Go play with your Samsung toy

"No standard 3.5mm audio jack (USB-C adapter is included)"

A big no-go for me, for the rest a good phone.

Why a no-go? Most bluetooth headphones sound worse in my opinion, and secondly you need to charge them.

I don't see why someone would prefer it over OP3. Moto mods are great but very costly too. The unlocked MOTO Z Force would itself cost almost double of OP3. As a handset it doesn't have any significant improvement over other competitors. In my opinion Mostly fan would entertain such a deal or moto mod enthusiasts.

What are those ugly holes beneath the glass beside the fingerprint sensor.? The black color hides it a bit, but on the white version of the Z it looks so ugly. Pogo Pins at the back is just okay with me tho.

So the camera samples from this device are much better than the standard version of Z, is that because of software only? The Moto Z samples look like garbage when compared to this!
