Well done Note 7.
Good to see the MP race silliness is dying out.
I set the GN7 to 9MP 16:9. Provides awesome quality and keeps file sizes down.
Low light is superb for a phone camera.

Upon reading the introduction page, my reaction was "They all look the same!" (albeit with different colors)
GSMA could consider adding Note 4 camera samples though, so as to show 2-year progress instead of just 1-year.

Just another reason to push me over the edge and choose Note7. Video recording is very important to me.

Can set to 9mp widescreen ratio
As most 16:9 playback devices are around 2k,.. 9 million pixels is still overkill.
For anyone wanting prints... panorama mode will yield them the necessary detail for larger format printing....

I'm surprise you didn't test it on manual mode to adjust for lower sharpening.
The major negative of S7 (edge) camera is over sharpening + over contrast.
I wish to see a camera test on manual mode to adjust the sharpening and contrast (gamma) to reasonable/more realistic imagery parameter.

I thoroughly hate the sharpening algorithms on my phone, and it ended up being the best Samsung has to offer. Ew!

Sony just makes profit off each device sold, and all they did was supply the camera sensor, there's absolutely no way sony can get out to as many users with their devices at this point in time, samsung has an edge on the market by a long shot.. smart move by sony...
in case you were not aware, samsung used to , if they still don't, not sure... but they used to supply all of apples screens, and at one point were making something like 20% off each device... maybe*** that helped samsung build themselves up to where they are now?? ...lol maybe with some sarcasm, it obviously helped. :D

They should at least give the option to automatically crop it for 16:9 though, if they don't.

This is one of the best cameras on a phone in my opinion, but I really wished Samsung worked on their HDR, as all it does it brighten shadows while blowing out more highlights, evident in the Note7's photos. And also if they added HDR to panoramas then the camera package would be complete.

thanks for this very nice and useful comparative (phone)camera review!
I would be very grateful if you could also incorporate raw image analysis in your future reviews, because this format delivers full sensor image information as opposed to OOC jpegs, which are mostly crippled by sharpening and noise reduction artefacts.

Boooom! Note7!
I know particular commentators have been saying "12MP camera is a downgrade" from the 16MP of the Note.5. And they apparently don't like "squarish" photographs.
Just too bad they don't understand the sensors of the S7/S7 Edge and Note7 have greater capabilities, and these tests OBJECTIVELY proves DxOMark Mobile's claims of the S7 Edge's overall performance in BOTH video and still shots as #1. I REPEAT, that's BOTH still shots and VIDEO recording. Even the competition's still captures are excellent, Video recording features however have been behind the S7 and Note7 series' capabilities.
Hey, Note7 is now the best that you can get from a mobile device, hands down. This reason and the improved S Pen are why I have it despite the fragile glass and sealed battery.
