Motorola at MWC 2017: Moto G5 and G5 Plus hands-on

27 February 2017
The Motorola family grew by a couple of mid-rangers - the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Those two run pure Android (with the Pixel launcher, in fact) and the Plus model at least promises stellar photography.

You guys had the dual-SIM model in your hands but you couldn't mention if that microSD slot is hybrid (shared with SIM1) or dedicated?

Moto G5 vs Nokia 5? Very close in specs by two of the best catering to the midrange. I like the Motorola a bit more because of the design and removable battery but the Nokia 5 should have godly battery life thanks to 3000 mAh w/ 720p and better camera. I wished both had more RAM, fast charging, and USB-C.

The RAM/storage per region is not a new mess, they did it with the G4, too (and maybe before that, but I wasn't paying attention). The Plus is still an excellent choice, but the premium for 1GB RAM is steep.

AnonD-368020, 27 Feb 2017I really don't understand the point of killing the iconic M... moreAgreed. While I don't find a removable battery, and metal build unattractive, there was nothing bad about the sturdy plastic and grippy material, with an ergonomic back. What Lenovo is doing to Moto isn't bad, they're just making it more like a Lenovo brand, while thankfully leaving the bloated software and slow updates out. Heck, why don't we start a petition to get Lenovo to stop messing with the Moto design under Google? It never hurts to help a company know what made Moto so iconic

AnonD-368020, 27 Feb 2017I really don't understand the point of killing the iconic M... moreAgreed. The curved back, the Motorola dimple on the back, Lenovo should not have killed them.

AnonD-436317, 27 Feb 2017Why does new phones needed if xiaomi mi5 faster and cheaper... morebecause there are better things than chinese glass cookies which snaps in half too easily. 820's are not as energy sufficient as 625/430 and not everyone uses their like its their last day on earth. there is a thing called software support and security updates which many manufactures fails to provide.

I really don't understand the point of killing the iconic Moto design. What Lenovo want to achieve with that. I am not saying it's a bad design but I would any time prefer classic Motorola design with curved back.

AnonD-436317, 27 Feb 2017Why does new phones needed if xiaomi mi5 faster and cheaper... moreIn America, Xiaomi and Oppo are not easily found and even if you do you need to treat them like crystal because accesories and replacement parts are nowhere to be found.

AnonD-436317, 27 Feb 2017Why does new phones needed if xiaomi mi5 faster and cheaper... moreBecause human beings exist with human brains. And not everyone lives in slum areas, to put it simply. More civilised response could have been made, but waste of time.
