And you need space for the battery to expand. Li-ion Battery expands when it recharges. And you have to accommodate the circuit board too.

Sound? Samsung may have louder speaker, but in term of sound quality Sony and HTC best. (you won't know if haven't used Xperia, from Z5 series). But Sony speakers aren't as loud as others.
Iris scanner?? Ohh, don't be too much blind to judge like a fanboy. It's only good in good light conditions.
If you play games on horizontal mode and you're an honest, not blind fanboy, then you'll miss top and bottom bezels. Top and bottom bezels are actually important when you use horizontally. Yes, Xperia XZ premium has too big bezels that could be 4-5 mm lesser from both end. But still it's sexiest phone out there in my opinion. But I won't buy it, as I am not that premium guy. XZs is highest standard for me (still high). ;-)

Great phone...Don't mind the bezel though. its stereo speaker and a real one.
But I will not buy this phone, the after sale service Sony phone is the worst in Indonesia.

S3mm, 02 Mar 2017Sony had 4K HDR (with new screen tech to reduce power cosu... moresamsung better have fixed the palm rejection. the S7Edge looks great but everyone use it in a case.. because palm rejection is annoying. you hold the phone and sometimes it doesnt click where you click (because your palm touches the sides..)

AnonD-39937, 01 Mar 2017I also defended Sony for years about their stereo speakers ... moreI was also expecting a little cut top-bottom bezels. 4-5 mm cut from each end would have been great. I know with front facing (yes FRONT FACING) speakers it's not possible to cut off that much upper and lower bezels. But still it could have been a bit lesser.
For your info, G6 doesn't have stereo speakers not even front facing.
In my opinion G6 and S8 don't have even close premium and elegant look to XZs or premium.
I also prefer a little bezel (but not that big) for gaming on horizontal mode. Xperia Z5 Compact has perfect lower bezel. I want just same size bezel on top and bottom, only then I won't complain.
**still Xperia devices are way sexier and more elegant looking. Real premium look.

The iris indeed better than fp scan but yet to be implemented correctly (it still need a long procedur to use)
Speaker wise, it will be good if they have stereo though
Design wise i like the LG G6 more
(because no edge screen, still S8 look decent to me)
But gsmarena will sure praise Samsung as a perfect device (based on comparison how harsh they review other device like LG, Sony, Xiaomi and HTC but being all optimistic when it come to Samsung and Apple)

- mDNIE Chip (I should mention this, since the Note7 and Tab S3 have this chip and this chip will optimize the screen for low battery consumtion)
- Exynos 8895 with Samsung's costum core will give better battery life
- Dual ADC camera ( this feature still in rumor, but if this' true this feature will give better performance and quality compare to the S7)
- DeX for PC experience
- Iris scanner for better security (it's better than fingerprint scanner for sure, your friends or family can open with your fingerprint while you're sleeping, but with iris scanner they can't)
- Secured by Knox and Intel Anti-virus.
- Audio tuned by AKG (also comes with AKG earphones in the box).
And all that features packed with BEAUTIFUL BEZEL-LESS DESIGN!

Sony should have put the 835 in the XZs. With the upgraded camera and improved power efficiency from the SoC, it would have been the perfect phone.

Sony problem is thier camera. Srs it has been 6 Xperia Zs phones and yet their camera sucks. How is that even possible when almost everyone is using ur camera sensors with good results. Also sony fan should wake up. I used to be a fan but when u r given too many chances to fix ur phones flaws and yet u fail, u don't deserve my money

Seems like other sites also mention the colossal bezels and the recycled looks, GSM A didn't mention the recycled looks but the bezels surely were mentioned. Maybe they tried to be a bit more positive than GSM A did, but it's not a total hurray for the device either. I'll check out the other hands-on's later, whenever I have time for nonsense phones.
