LG G6 review: Cutting corners... Like a pro

16 March 2017
Cutting corners - it's the story of the LG G6's life. Literally - the smartphone's display doesn't end in right angles, it's soft arcs instead. Figuratively - the G6 isn't packing the absolute greatest hardware on the market.

Other than the screen, nothing is impressive. Other good things are just those which LG is catching up, and camera and processor being biggest let downs. Specially camera, because In case of processor, they had no choice, but for camera, they could have just got a better one. Now I hope some G6s, or G6T or whatever will upgrade to sd835, dual 12MP with same sensor as pixels /Mi5s.

zodiacfml, 18 Mar 2017I'd get one for the price of a 3T. You can buy G5 for less than that in most places of the world and it's a better phone than G6 ... why wait?

(I mean better camera in both low light and selfie situations, removable battery, bigger screen with 16:9 content, I.E. with most apps, IR support. G6 is only better in being waterproof)

My iphone 6s plus(clears throat), which is a 2015 model, could still beat this in a speedtest. From 2015 to 2017(referring to G6), the difference in speed is so minimal that manufacturers are now boosting their sales by sideloading some gimmicks.

So it's the opposite than you think, Nougat actually allows *more* background apps , as without batttery leaking it now makes sense to have most if not all apps in the background.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry, but G6 looks gorgeous in my eyes!

And LG once said that we should look for the V series now for LG's best offering, so yeah I think the G6 is not made to compete, it's just made to reap some temporary profits.

S821 will be satisfying for everyday use and run smoothly on most high-end games.

And I personally don't care about the older camera sensor as long as the results are eye-catching and shareable to social media.

And remember, the software is not final so retail-grade software may perform better

Just see what happen to 4GB phones when compared and contrasted to 6GB (ram)phones. Over time most apps are cached on 6GB phones, but that doesn't happen to 4GB phones, so about a week in, one is blazing fast and the other is still reloading apps.

This is not a flagship folks, wrap it up. Just call a spade (to be ) a spade. I mean I would love if LG could compete, but they simply can't anymore. It's not just cutting costs, it's improving the looks and hoping that alone would be enough to make a quick buck ... but once real good looking phones would come in the market G6 would be steamrolled. That's an "one month" phone, before long you'd find it in the bargain bin (and only then it maaay be worth it).

Hey this phone looks great! the screen looks gorgeous and its also waterproof!!!

                                        But Wait...

The 'cost saving' moves here is too much!!!

Yeah I agree that $700 is too much. But not because of the older S821 SoC & the older camera sensor, but because LG's region limitations is way too far!

Non-US & South Korean buyers will obviously want wireless charging and those Quad-Dac. Not because they needs them, it's because they would need a reason(s) to pick this phone right away than waiting for the S8 which would ultimately destroy this phone performance and spec wise.
