Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ hands-on: First encounter

29 March 2017
After a month of what seemed like never ending barrage of leaks, Samsung has finally (and officially) announced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. This marks the company's first major smartphone release since the sad demise of the Galaxy Note7 last fall, which prompted the company to implement a new 8-point battery safety check to the S8 and all future devices.

regs, 30 Mar 2017- but this isn't improvement - 60 fps is much smoother - ... moreIs wireless display stable enough at such high data rates? Show me one company not in concept stage implementing that. Also it requires input from keyboard and mouse anyways so it's not a major issue.
2 they made s pay as an attempt to standardise Mobile payment. What your card can do s pay can.
They can't do anything if others are reluctant to support it
3 yeah 4k 60 FPS is smoother but to record and render it will take a whole lot of processing grunt also how many people have display to support it? A 4k 60 FPS monitor (not even TV mind you) costs more than this phones expected price here . Even phone is QHD
You can criticize this phone for several other things like battery size and other stuff but what you are saying is just nitpicking

AnonD-77443, 30 Mar 2017The big thing i don't like about the G6 is the LCD screen. ... moreAs if AMOled-screen are so perfect?
Most have a black shift as modern oled-screens don't actually turn of their pixels anymore (as they used to do). Probably to increase lifespan and framerates. Everybody has seen the purple haze on amoled-displays when swiping screens rapidly.
Besides you're exaggerating. Blacks on modern IPS-LTPS LCD's are much deeper today and so are their viewing angles. I couldn't care less if my phone has a modern IPS screen or AMOled as long as I have no broken pixels. Especially when spending near to a thousand bucks!

regs, 30 Mar 2017screen is better only in blacks. sony has better color repr... moreYou are very correct pal. If you want very good white color screen point and best viewing angles you should choose Sony or iPhone they have best screens. Yes Amoled still have only good black because pixels turn off. Its like turn off light in room and say what a good color and reproduction. Try test them white and try test same IPS LCD white, see whats got better white. Well earlier was mich more important screen quality was important much viewing angles and color reproduction (white balance is nost important because its all colors balance. Good to know that Sony and iphone keeps high screen quality standarts.

AnonD-77443, 30 Mar 2017The big thing i don't like about the G6 is the LCD screen. ... moreI beg to differ.
I'm using a Honor 8 right now as a replacement for my old Galaxy S5, and it's screen is on par or perhaps even better than the latter's AMOled panel. No light bleed at all and a beautiful uniform black when needed. Plus LCD ages much better than amoled/oled.

The only big question is how are warranty settlements when there's broken pixels on these screens? Because lets face it, these phones are expensive (no matter what brand or type).

regs, 30 Mar 2017- but this isn't improvement - 60 fps is much smoother - ... more3. TV movies are shot either in 30fps (NTSC) or 25fps (PAL)

IMHO Your camera should at least be able to shoot and display it's native resolution at 30fps.
And for games I'd prefer at least 60fps (the native refresh rate of most flatscreens) under all circumstances.

Thus rather 60fps FHD then 20fps QHD
                  But that's just my opinion.

kakouille, 30 Mar 2017I understand, the S8 is too expensive for you,I feel your painThis thing is expensive for everybody. Period.

But I get it. Samsung wants to undermine sales of regular PC's. A phone with a dock is fine especially when coupled with a r̶a̶n̶s̶o̶m̶ subscription to Microsoft Office services. Win-win for the 2 big brother corporations. So they increase prices, put some lipstick on the pig (or in this case gorilla glass) and make sure that after buying this monstrosity there's no cash left to buy any other t̶o̶y̶ computing device.

There's this saying: "A fool and his money are soon parted"
