Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ hands-on: First encounter

29 March 2017
After a month of what seemed like never ending barrage of leaks, Samsung has finally (and officially) announced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. This marks the company's first major smartphone release since the sad demise of the Galaxy Note7 last fall, which prompted the company to implement a new 8-point battery safety check to the S8 and all future devices.

This will sell on looks alone. But as per usual Samsung retains the screen, camera and sound quality supremacy in the business. This S8 adds further eye candy.

We don't want an 18.5/9 bezelless display with rounded corners and mono speaker under the phone, which is crappy for photo and video watching... We want an bezelless 16/9 display with front stereo speakers, that's simply perfect!

But yeah, no reason for me to go smaller anymore. Had 3.5", 3.7" and 3.8", a few ~5"'s, then saw the 6" Nexus 6 (5.96") in a local store and went to test it... Had to bring it with me, fell completely in love with it. :) Switched to 5.9" phone about 2 weeks ago. I'd like a bigger screen, but at least battery life is amazing.

I was really hoping there was a dual camera and was all set to get the S8+... will probably wait for the Note 8 and see if it gets it. Not sure why Samsung is dragging the chain on a feature that was in many 2016 phones???
