Sony Xperia XZs review: Slow (e)motion

7 April 2017
Slap a new camera on the Xperia XZ, et voila - you have yourself a brand-new flagship. Is Sony taking advantage of a smartphone-induced decrease in human attention span? Or just doing what everyone else does?

Dual edge screens? Oh, distortions say hi to you
Iris Scanner? Cool, would be fun to see you in public use that and look like a pedo lol
User Interface is ugly? So I'm glad to know that your ugly childish DisGraceUX makes more sense because Timescape UI is all about simplicity and beauty. Too bad you don't understand it, kid
Big bezel? Right, goodluck trying to save your screen after a drop
LCD? At least they're not oversaturated and will never burn in on your heart just like the truthful facts I have told you lol

Battery life is impressive because the screen, that takes the most amount of juice of the battery, isn't as bright and as contrastic as that of the XZs, hence what explains that battery life. And it's just the same league as that of the XZ while using a 400mAh more power cell. Yeah, larger display, but not like 0.5" difference would make a night and day of difference

Once again the camera remains as Sony's eternal flaw. After all this years it's the same story over and over again, pretty embarrassing.

NokiaBeast, 08 Apr 2017Got to give credit for not being garbage like the G6 thoughJust saw a gaming review of g6 on YouTube and the battery life is surprising good but do get warm. After playing some games for about 20 minutes, the battery remains about 96% of juice.
                      youtube.com/watch?v=lR7FB_Y-h4s

And in terms of design, xzs can't compete with the well praised G6 and s7 edge.

Best Sony smartphone in years by far.? Don't now why they took so long ... Still I wish the design would be more creative..

I've got to admit, this phone's camera does not live up to my expectations, but man that slo-mo feature seems super cool (even though at this point it seems like a gimmick). Hopefully, the XZ Premium will improve on the XZs and give out a much better package overall.

That's why Sony Xperia hasn't appealed to me since the Z3. Nothing to really differentiate themselves.

                                - No dual cam or top notch cam
                                - More phones have water-resistance
                                - Not the fastest with updates
                                - Doesn't offer the best value
                                - Battery life and design is surpassed by Samsung

Might as well get a Huawei/Honor or whatever Chinese brand because Sony lacks any compelling features or gimmicks.

The slow motion is awesome. But why sony still stuck at f2.0 aperture??? In low light condition the result is bad.

[deleted post]Gsmarena are the most neutral review site on the Web. I currently rock a XZ and yes the camera is not as good as the competition, but I love it for its ability to upscale my music, and the fact it does not look like every other phone on the market right now.

Well, there goes my hope of Sony finally improving their camera imaging quality. They used the same lens for 5 generations, only to finally update it but offer no additional quality improvement. Maybe it's something that can be tweaked in software updates, but who knows.
