Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: The showstopper

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium has a gorgeous 4K display. Better yet, a 4K HDR display! The latest Snapdragon 835 chipset is pulling the strings and delivering lightning-fast LTE while the Adreno 540 is firing up millions of pixels in a heartbeat. With or without the mirror finish, this is one of the classiest designs around and waterproof, too.

      I can clearly see from Sony's progression (from XZ to XZ Premium) that they want to lessen the noise reduction algorithm because they themselves know that it also destroys the details hence why the XZ Premium is noisier than the XZ but gives off more resolution.

      Like I've said, a good 12mp 1/2" camera paired with f1.8, 1.7um pixel size, and OIS would surely boost the image quality of Xperia flagships. Needless to say, Sony can finally use lower ISO values in dark situations and get the HDR+ like processing for every situation.

              I was expecting the XZP camera to be at least on par with the S8+ but low light performance just isn't close. If Samsung S8 had that low light performance I wouldn't buy it and would be hammering them as well. Any flagship phone takes a good photo in good light. It's the dynamic range and low light performance that is the true test in my opinion.

                overpriced.... poor display (low contrast , white colors is blue,low sunlight ). poor battery lifE,NO IR REMOTE ,NO FM RADIO , poor speakers,BAD CAMERA SOFTWARE, HUGE BEZZELES

                    Got smaller aperture. Smaller pixel size. No "HDR+"-like processing. No OIS.

                    And still managed to capture something usable if not besting out. I guarantee to you, an IFA 2017 Sony flagship will get a 1/2" 12mp f1.8 camera with 1.5-1.7um pixel size and OIS presence with the same DRAM of the XZs/XZ Premium - surely will blow Samsung away.

                      No advertisement other than on their social accounts.
                      Barely available anywhere.
                      Not-so-promising specifications.
                      Not too much mind-blowing features.

                      And the XZ still won as the most selling flagship phone of Q4 2016 right behind the Note 7 (after the demise).
                      If they do the right marketing, they will surely nail it again.
                      In marketing, if you believe something, nothing will be impossible.

                          Youtube already supports HDR, the "Jacob + Katie Schwarz" channel has HDR videos that are also available for mobile and "The HDR Channel" also has 4K HDR content

                          Both, the S8 and the Xperia XZ Premium have a Wide Color Gamut screen, the colors between the two devices is similar, the biggest difference is in black pixels, but it really is a matter of personal preference. I prefer Triluminos over Super Amoled because the skin tones are more realistic, a bit less orange looking, and the reds are deeper.
                          The S8 crop the image for full screen experience, nothing good.

                          No just Album and Video are in 4K, 3rd party video players or Youtube are in native 4K when is available, and supports 4K at 60 fps (if is HDR just 30):

                          In the S8 the higher resolution is 1440p
                          Bonus: Xperia XZP supports Hybrid Log-Gamma / BT.2100

                          The camera of the S8 is very good, but the XZPremium also is, the progress of Sony in this section is undoubted, photography in low light is still a problem for all smartphoes without exceptions. Both do a good job, each with their strengths and weaknesses, there are many external factors that can alter the outcome. The S8 has more details but also more luminance noise, sharpness artifacts and black halos.
                          The Xperia XZP has less luminance noise, more chromatic noise, and does not produce black halos, but loses a little detail in the shadows.

                                  people who prefer simplicity and dont care much about user interface choose google's devices and oneplus.
                                  people who want more features and better non-stock ui choose samsung.
                                  people who prefer more features and cheaper price choose china brands.
                                  people who prefer simplicity but dont like android choose iphone.

                                  so sony doesnt have place.. avoided by most people. all flagships have good cameras. sony doesnt have any special features other than the camera

                                        sony is different. got so many negative comments and always failed to sell the devices every year. even lose to small china brands like vivo and xiaomi.
