Let my try to explain it to you in terms you should be able to understand (i.e. very simple like).
Samsung never said anything about qnovo, the did however make the claim that they had improved considerably the battery longevity (long term) when compared to the S7. As qnovo's sole purpose is to improve battery longevity in the long term, I have made the comparison.
Qnovo is not the the only means by which a battery's health can be improved over its lifetime you know, I say this as I'm getting the serious impression that you Sony fanboys are thinking that is the case.
Will Samsungs effort prove as effective as Qvono is claimed to be? Who knows, but it's a possibility at least.

As to why Samsung are not making a bigger deal of this, who knows, you'll have to take that up with them.

Samsung have done a lot right this year: software optimisation still needs work, though.

Now look at the photographs yourself: note the incorrect detail reproduction from the S8 on the shutters - it's not just "noisy" it's completely fictional. Note the terribly overblown colours. Take a gander at the unatural sharpening that leads to halo distortion and thickened edge details.
Actually look at the QUALITY of the S8's images in good light: it's not actually very good. Sure, it looks "pretty" but that's because it's completely artificial - it's what Samsung thinks you want to see to make you go "ahhhh" but it's not actually a particularly good photograph by any metric that any profesional photographer would give you.
I would choose both the XZP and the G6 over the S8 in daylight - they're both better. If you're choosing between the two of them, the XZP has less noise, more acurate colour reproduction and more detail.
Handheld at night - using the settings GSM used (they themselves point out that there are settings on the Sony that bring it level) - then the s8 is better than the others. But then stabilised with controlled ISO the Sony pulls a complete U turn and blows the S8 out of the water.
So if you only ever take photos handheld at night feel free to call the S8 the best here. But only if you selctively omit the inconvenient evidence that it's not particularly good the rest of the time.
