Doogee Mix review: Dress to impress

10 August 2017
We've always tried to maintain an impartial perspective and shy away from bias in our work. Whether that shines through or not is really up to you, our readers to decide. However, we will admit right off the bat that Doogee hasn't really received any significant attention from us in the past. While there are perfectly good reasons for that as well, we still feel compelled to give the Doogee Mix the benefit of the doubt.

You can find refurbished one for about the same price. Granted, it doesn't look that good compared to mix, but is more robust, with IP certification, has better and higher resolution screen, better autonomy and removable battery. Chipset is better in single core and graphics performance, while UI, despite being LagWiz, is still better than some chinese iCrapUI. Not to mention that if you know how to root it and use XDA, it will be supported for a longer time than Doogie. Also, instead of having 2 useless cameras that can't do even that lame bokeh effect properly, you get one that is still very good, and hard to beat in the price range.

        My takeaway from the review:

        - It's obviously a copy of Sharp and Xiaomi designs, but that's okay, it's a budget version, with OLED, so all is forgiven

        - Stock Android would be a better choice for the OS/UI.

        - Why did they use 2 cameras if they're both terrible? They should have invested in ONE decent camera instead.

        - That's not bokeh! They just used a circular blur around the center.

        - They should include a case like Xiaomi does. I'm assuming a case might be hard to find for this model.

Stay away from Doogee phones as their official firmware is loaded with malwares that will only be activated after a few weeks of usage. Try googling "Doogee malware" and you will find tons of thread about it and some have written on their site too. https://www.computersdealstore.com/doogee-smartphones-come-infected-with-malware/

The specs are great at that price point i must admit, and the AMOLED display is a plus. It's crazy what you can get for $200 nowadays. Doesn't look half bad either. What i'm skeptical about are the radios though.. signal, bluetooth, wifi you know all that good stuff. I'm curious is any of that stuff is any good.

The phone has seriously impressed me by the looks. Not so sure about the battery or speed test, but 6 gb. A price starting at £140 can not go wrong with bazeless design and finger print in correct position. 2 camera at the back. I need one.

This Doogee Mix is just great for a modest price despite its slacking camera. Doogee is currently busy on firmware updates for this phone, let's hope they get this part sorted very quick.

It's very nice to read a fair review from a trustworthy outlet of an unknown brand like Doggee. Hopefully, the GSMArena team doesn't get scared of the Chinese phones, there are some interesting ones being released day by day, like the aforementioned ones in the review.
