Hands-on Nokia 8 review: First impressions

This is a Nokia phone built by Foxconn for HMD in partnership with Zeiss and Google. Make no mistake, though, there’s Finnish blood running through Nokia 8’s veins. The new leadership tried to resurrect the qualities that were vital to the Nokia brand: quality, simplicity, trust and reliability.

      Based on everything I've read so far about the Nokia 8, it's not the flagship I expected. No wireless charging, splash only water resistance and a few others not up to current flagship standards. I believe there will be a '9' in the future truly displaying Nokia of old premium pricing.

              Pitty Nokia designed a phone for narcissists instead of going back to their roots and developing a superb business phone, AKA, the 9000 Series Communicator, but based on Android. IE, a large stylus equipped phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Like a Galaxy Note and a Moto Droid (keyboard version) in one.

              The Blackberry keyone keyboard is too small.

                The main camera use IMX 258 sensors for both cameras, a little disappoint for this price range and this year :(

                  Again with binaural audio, even if it recorded in 360°x 360° direction, and it don't based in whats writen, it wouldn't be binaural. Binaural means to hear such sound in-ear, its impossible to simulate for now. As it was confused with stereo before, so its now with 3D stereo. If its binaural recording, sony got earphones for XZP for that function. Kind of misuse of words here.

                        My only draw back with this nokia 8 is that it does NOT have FM Radio.Too bad.

                          The dual cams use high quality zeiss lens.. Other phones use cheap lens
                          The front cam has autofocus and zeiss lens.. Other phones don't even have autofocus let alone quality lens
                          The 3 mics are capable of OZO surround audio recording.. Other phones such as the iPhone only supports mono audio recording
                          This is the only phone capable of recording/streaming 2 4k cameras at once whilst keeping the SD835 cool.. Other flagships can only record 4k for 5 minutes before overheating

                          These qualities qualifies the Nokia 8 as a proper flagship and more

                                GSM Arena: where are you getting the information that the phone has Always On display? I assume it will be active ONLY when the phone is attached to a charger? Using Always On in a non-AMOLED phone will drain the battery fast.

                                      It seems very similar to HTC U11, does anyone remember how much did that one cost at launch? Could the new Nokia be a bit cheaper?

                                        Too big for 2017 Flagship. 5.3" screen and 151.5 x 73.7 x 7.9 mm sound like a joke.
