I've been a sony user for so long that I don't undrestand where all the hate is coming from the other users(if they are using it at all that is), sure it has a few short comings here and there but the overall experience with sony have kept me with them.

Wow... so thanks to Oreo and 10nm process, it can turn 2700 mAh almost on par with Z3's 3100 mAh in endurance rating.
I hope they can save more juice on Xperia X as well with their upcoming Oreo update!

Tann Hauser, 16 Sep 2017I believe that to be the case....optimal sound volume for o... moreLimiting things because of the battery is not exactly a good thing. Especially if it can still provide adequate battery without limiting as much.
And is just another good example of why some of their devices have been skimping on battery size. And S835 is no excuse.

AnonD-521587, 16 Sep 2017actually requires more energy to power two speakers as oppo... moreI believe that to be the case....optimal sound volume for optimal power consumption on a portable battery dependent device.
I found my stereo speakers consume quite a lot battery when on max...almost double per hr if 10 or more db louder.
The reasons are logical if you look behind simply the tech.
For ex, Sony phones are only ones that provide 0.35 V output on headphone jack, rest do it with 0.7 V and above, but those consume much more energy while music listening....
it doesnt mean Sonys amplifier tech is weaker on headphones, it just means it is optimised differently and requires lower impedance headphones to keep same volume levels as others for that 0.35 V output, having in mind battery drain during music listening.
Sony does the optimization under the hood for lower power consumption and signal to noise ratio, but doesnt explain it.
So revs test volume with standardized headphone, and of course Sonys max volume out of 0.35 V is lower than others 0.7 V.
They do it differently purposely, but dont care to explain, and revs dont care to mention that Xperias indeed provide best volume with low impedance headphones, that Sony indeed produces.
Of course other phones would provide even too much volume with lower impedance headphones, but with high noise which is not so good on ears.
Sony should provide the option to change the Output voltage tho, so that user has a choice on that, due to constant volume debates going on here.

sony will fail again.
they better shutdown their mobile division and focus in camera and ps.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2017Like the motherboard failures and self cracking displays on... moreDo you watching the Samsung S8 teardown reviews? The internal without any protection, any drop damage have higher risk to damage the motherboard.
Do you watching the Xperia XZ Premium teardown reviews? The internal have plenty small cover to protect the internal parts.
The older generation always needs add on extra protection example tempered glass, but now the Gorilla Glass 4 and 5 already adapted in Xperia, so the trolls shouldn't be trolling.

I'm still on the z2 and was shocked how low the speakers on it are at full volume, so I've been a little skeptical towards their speakers. Everything else about the xz1 has me sold just want to know if they're speakers are decent. But I guess everything is an upgrade from the z2 lol.

Tann Hauser, 14 Sep 2017There will always be people that dont follow trends just fo... moreSo essentially, the thinkers buy Sony, the rest buy Samsung or Apple....right?
Ahh Tann, for someone who would never 'debate the hipster kids' you don't half share their simplistic world view. You know, I dare say there are people even smarter than you like to think you are who buy Apple products, they may even have different reasons for doing so.....
Just food for thought though eh. Anyway, seems to me that Sony are as much a mainstream electronics brand as Apple or Samsung. Sure their market share in the mobile space ain't as big, but they are still a household name, Were someone really interested in bucking a trend, well they'd likely make a far better statement of it by buying something like an Essential phone....
