LG V30 review: All screen

13 September 2017
The V-series of phablets was conceived as a novel take on the phablet with a secondary ticker display. Well, that lasted for two product cycles, and the secondary screen is no more. Instead, the LG V30 is all screen.

Nokia 8 as an alternative? this must be a bad joke.

Meanwhile, Mate 10 pro (which is said to be bezelless in your news article) is missing!

I know that my Priv inherently has bad battery life, but still the greatest drain seems to occur during web browsing. White backgrounds of websites are not suitable for AMOLED.

Definitely need a night mode or something on Chrome.

It is clearly stated in the review (+ in this comment-section) that this is not the final software. So why on earth would I think V30's battery life couldn't get better/balanced?

Yes, I did not mention that in my previous message, but everyone should've understood that by now - repeating that would've been pointless, just like your message to me.

OP5 as an alternative? Try to record video o take good photos at low conditions with the OP5 and compare with the rest mentioned. You'll hate it. In any case, it is comparable in SoC performance. Take a little extra care when recommending alternative products including the use of cameras.

After all the bootloops & sh*t from LG, i'm no longer interested in their products.

Finally a decent enough battery life for an lg flagship, but on second glance, web browsing seems to be a joke. Lg continues to disappoint in the battery front.

GSM said "Curved screen glass makes it look a little too Samsung-like"
But yet they don't care about that Oppo and Vivo looking iPhone.

Stills are more crisp than XA1(surely thx to 16mp too), more contrasty and colorful than any other phone(truly than any, even in low light). Missing big sensor size is visible mainly in low light, but somehow it still performs without noise, with good colors.
Most visible downside besides less true colors than XZP is just 4K sharpness, by that I mean its just worse than U11/Pixel, which are however best in that.
Simply, stills sharper than anything and everything's colorful. Its camera beast.

Really nice phone. If I was to upgrade my phone now, this would probably be my choice. Nice audio quality with headphones.

Also they can't bypass the Q-DAC but the option in V30 enables the filters and DSP/EQ which can result in sound quality degradation in some cases.

Big shame its not infinite contrast, pitch black is awesome, also that means it suck some battery then, would need someone to test difference though.

Congrats, that OLED is what it takes to give LG a way of increasing the battery life of their phones.
But Sony's still to be beaten in battery management - XZ1's Oreo OS, SD835, 5.2" IPS LCD HDR screen, and 2700mAh gets such incredible battery life at 82h.

XZ1 Compact will blow it away again for sure.

Average Joe, 14 Sep 2017Hi Jon, DACs does not naturally mean better sound quality, ... moreYour consent of DAC is completely wrong, and headphone impedance has nothing to do with DAC. And good headphone does not required high impedance.

DAC is to convert digital ( not perfect signal with many issue ) to analog ( perfect form )

A good DAC will fix the signal with filters and complex algorithm to restore an analog signal then amplify it.

So we need a powerful DAC with advance capabilities.

And the amplifier section is responsible to drive headphone with different loads.

Great review. Battery performance is excellent. Sadly they reviewed the pre production V30. I think the final product in terms of firmware will be better ;)

Are you guys planning to review the final product??
