LG V30 review: All screen

13 September 2017
The V-series of phablets was conceived as a novel take on the phablet with a secondary ticker display. Well, that lasted for two product cycles, and the secondary screen is no more. Instead, the LG V30 is all screen.

Does the battery test use the default screen resolution(4K)? If that so can you test it with 1080p when you get the retail unit? I think this should be the default resolution and use the superior resolution only for VR or maybe movies.

Let me tell you a factual thing. 200 dollars cheaper, according to you that is the price to pay to get lesser specs. Do people care? Some yes, most not. For them who don't care (I am one of those) this flagship (it is, cause LG don't offer any better than this) is worth the so called cutting corners, although the majority of people won't experience it at all. Telephoto lens ir wide angle? It's whatever one prefers. I used telephoto on the Iphone 7 Plus, now I am more inclined to see what the wide angle lens does. And as far I read, it's nice.I have nothing more to say.

Davilla , 11 Oct 2017I don't get your point. You're accusing him look like a fan... more And the point was they cut corners enough and a number of their parts cost less to the point that while being $200 cheaper is still the more over priced device.
They cut corners. It's a fact. Stop getting so hurt and defensive over it and trying to make this into something it's not. I didn't bash lg or the v30 or say anything not factual. The v30 cut too many corners and it left the note 8 superior in the majority of ways. Plain and simple. Nothing more. Nothing less. It doesn't mean v30 sucks, people shouldn't get it, that it doesn't gave advantages, and so on.
All you fanboys on these pages need to start growing up and being able to see things objectively. And not take every negative to heart and get defensive over things. Especially factual things.

And if you are going to reply to someone you should read it or get over yourself. Especially when you tell someone things they specifically said just because you were too lazy or bias to get through it.
Like where I specifically said that everyone likes what they like and get what they want. I don't care who likes what and prefers what. Yada yada etc.

You're accusing him look like a fan boy, yet you try to convince people how much of a not flagship the V30 is and how good the Note8 is compared to the V30. I have news for you, this is the V30 opinion section so you can expect such opinions. Only if you think LG cut corners doesn't mean other share that same opinion. We can choose whatever phone we want. A budget phone can be a flagship for someone who is not willing or who cannot afford high priced phones. It doesn't necessarily means it's a lesser phone, as long as one is happy with it. The V30 is not for you, but it is for others. Reviews are positive about this phone, might be hard for you to see that. Besides many would gladly pay 200 dollars less for a phone that is barely performing worse with those so called cutting corner stuff you mentioned. It's smaller too, many people like that. 200 dollars can be a lot of money. Soa according to you LG cut corners for profit. Well, Samsung made it's phone overpriced to reduce losses on the Note7.

Jammy jimbo, 03 Oct 2017I don't think LG cut corners in camera, in fact of what I s... moreYour reply just makes you look like a fanboy that was itching to reply.
Nothing you said discredited my factual points.
Just because LG did well with the camera and you might even prefer it does not mean they could not have cut corners. Nor does you liking it mean it's better. Objectively it's not.
And they did. In all three in fact. It's not a flagship grade sensor. It's got tiny pixels and is cheaper than what you would find in most mid range phones and others that cost hundreds less. Even some lower end ones. And that's just the main sensor.
Luckily they have good processing and a bright lens.
That does change the facts. And since it's weaker it heavily relies on that processing and lens rather than all complimenting each others.
Stop being blind. You think the camera is great anyway? Then use your brain. If you like the results now then accept that they cut corners and realize that means had they used a real flagship grade sensor with either larger and/or more pixels faster focus and all the good stuff.. Then they could have done even better. Maybe even actually beat the competition.
But they settled for cutting corners and just doing good.
And if you even begin to claim the front camera is not pretty terrible even for a 5mp then don't even bother replying. So not only is it a $750 phone supposed flagship of 2017 that lacked in front cam, but used a 5mp...And not just 5mp, but a crappy one at that.
low budget devices can do better.
And the wide angle one misses out on a number of possibilities in focus, pixels size, resolution, aperture, ois, and so on.
Samsung's secondary sensor has dual pixel focus, OIS, and 2x optical zoom. And is almost the same size as LG's main camera sensor.
Again. They cut corners on all three. And it didn't go to anywhere else except their pockets.

And how do you figure the Note is only eh? It's at least decent in audio. And the Exynos with Wolfson DAC is definitely a cut above. Yes LG has quad DAC and louder speaker.
They had to have a couple advantages somewhere.

Again. Expensive flagship late 2017 and still only 4GB ram. Where as just about any mid to higher has moved to at least 6GB. Some even 8GB. And some of those cheaper options had 6GB more than a year ago.
And LG was practically last to bring the S835. More corners cut that didn't go anywhere except their pocket.

You don't have to want everything it offers. But denying the corners that have been cut or not realizing that cost ratio of what is offered makes the $200 cheaper LG actually more over priced is just foolish and blind.
It's not a bad phone. But it's lacking a lot in comparison to the competition. And falls short of Note8 on many aspects.
And unless you are paying for either up front or the slightly louder speaker is your main goal it's a better deal to get the Note8.

If you have to save that like $5 a month and don't care about anything except that its' cheaper and still good enough then have it.
I don't care who prefers what or who gets what or think it's bad. Just facts are facts. LG cut corners for profit.

Besides Note 8 audio is average, not bad not good. The V30 audio is much better. Yes it has 2 gigs less of ram. I wouldn't even mind paying much less for the V30 compared to Note 8.

Personally i don't need an s-pen, i just look for a phablet sized phone with good build gquality and good cam and audio. So why would i go for note 8 and not V30 and save money?
