Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hands-on

04 October 2017
Google acquired the HTC team that built the new Pixel 2 – let’s see what the search giant bought for a billion dollars. Strangely enough, the smaller of the two devices hasn’t changed much, but the larger Pixel 2 XL is much more in step with modern flagships.

Now a third time to try and help you understand basic comprehension.
What I started was based on price point and time of release compared to others. And not only not using a dual camera but not even using a better single one. And in fact slightly downgrading the sensor. That on top of all the other corners they cut and features they don't offer compared to others.
Yet is late 2017 and one of the most expensive phones out there.

If you are going to reply at least try to understand what you are replying to and learn to read first. And reply based off things I actually said.
And please try to actuality be factual rather than all this hurt bias you are going off of

The Note still is superior in many ways. And nothing yippy said can change that.
And nothing you can say can change the main point.
Cost comparison. You couldn't address that or change it. For what it offers compared to the note or phones half the price it us unjustifiably over priced. Fact. Period. End of story.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2017 sorry the truth hurts you. Especially comparing price. Co... moreLoL. Those are far from being truths. Only things which are better on the Note 8, are the display and that it retains the 3.5 mm adapter that's all.

Dual camera? Really! Biggest joke ever.

Other than having a fantastic camera, the Pixels will offer a software experience which is in Samsung's dream forever. So just in terms of software experience alone its worth it. Of course the price I find typically high, but If a Pixel 2 XL sells for 800, then a Note 8 should sell for 700, end of story. No one should pay premium for abomination iteration of Android, and please don't bother telling me Samsung doesn't lag any more, cause I have had SEVEN Samsung flagships and ONE Pixel.

Not only did it not offer a dual set up at this point in the game and at this price point. But it didn't even use an upgraded single sensor. Not even the same sensor. In fact minutely downgraded the sensor and only upgraded the lens some.
And while their camera is still shown to be great despite this means they could have done better. Especially for the price and not offering dual.

I'd prefer a better single set up myself. But if you offer something in late 2017 as a flagship and cost almost 900 and use dual it improved single set ups something is wrong.

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2017 sorry the truth hurts you. Especially comparing price. Co... moreI gotta agree with most points, but I will say having the dual cameras doesn't always mean it is better than not. We won't know till the pixel is released into the wild, but it could end up doing a better job with portrait mode than the note. I personally don't use or care for the zoom lens but that is a personal preference. In my opinion, i think the pixel has a more unique design than the note 8, not necessarily better just different than the other main flagships.

and ya the note 8 has blown me away with performance, even coming from a 3t.

ithehappy, 06 Oct 2017Stop embarrassing yourself man. sorry the truth hurts you.
Especially comparing price. Considering the pixel offers less in hardware and software and is cheaper to produce in this regards in comparison of what is offered.
As well as lacking in storage and expandable storage, headphone jack, downgrading the sensor minutely and not offering dual camera, same or improved camera... They improved lens not sensor....a great but not as great display.. not as elegant a design, lacking wireless charging, s pen, the extra sensors.... yada yada..
And doesn't come with free $100 headphones. Was not on sales that had the device as low as $306 plus $200 or more in freebies as well as the headphones still.
And still now only costs like $50 less?????

If you prefer the pixel that's fine and up to you... But it doesn't change the fact that it's severely over priced for what it offers.
And that the Note8 simply is superior in most ways.
Even in performance they are very close.

                          False on all levels there.
First off. No. Most are not that overdone in bezels from the past few years. In fact not even all of Sony's are.
Which goes to part two. They were specifically refereeing to the xzp. Which indeed has nightmarish bezels. And not just for the amount, but how utterly useless and how not utilized they are.
Even comparing to their own flagship from three years prior. The xzp has 10mm of height and is wider. And internals have shrunk in size lime 28nm cpu to 10nm.
And all you get for that extra 10mm height is 0.2inch of display and 100mah battery. And barely improved speakers.

Where iPhone X will have issues is having only 3gb RAM and with garbage optimization and a mess known as iOS11. It either destroyed most iPhones' fluidity and battery life or both.

Still, iPhone X will be sold for THREE YEARS. Everyone and your dog will own one. Nothing special from its design and everyone will own the same-looking phone as you covered in some hideous case.

The Apple you know from 1976-2011 is not the same Apple anymore. Apple has ticked off more people the last 13 months with the port-less MacBook Pro and jack-less than their terrible run (1995-1996) minus Steve Jobs. This current Apple is like the current LA Lakers. It's watching Michael Jordan play for the Wizards. Will never be the same again.

                                      LG > HTC

Four years ago, that wasn't the case especially in design. Seems like HTC is stuck with outer shells from the M7/M8 minus the grilled speakers of BoomSound. Similar to the Sony Xperia XZ1 looking like it came from the same factories that made the Nokia Lumia 920 and Xiaomi Mi 3 from 4-5 years ago.

Pixel 2 XL in panda is the one to get. If Pixel 3 goes water-resistance, say bye-bye to the bottom metal rear. All-glass once it gets wireless charging and water-resistance. Shame how much HTC has fallen the last six years. LG out designed them this time around. HTC hasn't made a nice design since the M8.

Nothing wrong with competition and you should remember that no company stays on top forever.

Google has proven that they could take down any giant in digital world, if they decide to do so.

In this new world where almost every single manufacturer is able to produce best looking shiny devices, we certainly know that a shiny tool wouldn't be useful without real software and services.

Just accept the fact that Apple wouldn't play an important role in the Mobile world in near future, if Google really decides to take on Apple.
