Camera samples look worse than Nexus 5x (with HDR+ On) or Pixel. Especially the new lens seems to be worse and does not seem to handle harsh light very well. Also a bad decision to use a 20% smaller sensor.

"...but other old Nexus features remain absent - wireless charging and high-grade water resistance."
Which Nexus had high-grade water resistance?

On the first page they ask what advantage the pixel phones have. That they don't know speaks volumes (for the record, the best and most consistent software experience that can be had with Android, and guaranteed os upgrades through q, with security updates for another year AND it is the only phone you can buy that uses Treble).
I get that Google isn't popular in the parts but you've got to acknowledge the unique (as in, no other company has shown they can integrate Android with silicon as well) value that the pixels offer.
What is it missing? Wireless charging and two cameras (ip68 really only matters if so more than accidently drop your phone in water - even then, due there to be a difference, the water better been less than about 5ft deep, so, that's a pretty small margin of utility). The former is certainly useful, but it's also certainly slow (btw how many of you actually use that feature?). Two cameras can be a really nice feature, as it provides an additional data point for distance calculation, along with camera effects. Regardless, its camera is still fantastic, and, arguably, the best you can get. So, the value loss doesn't seem great to me as they are asking, roughly, the same amount as Samsung for an experience that is at least equivalent.

AnonD-234961, 04 Oct 2017The design of both phones simply makes me puke...And I have no idea why they never complain about the ugly back which is so damn obvious instead they like it LMAO

I was expecting more the Pixel especially for that asking price and just a 5" display. That being said the XL looks good and I love the subtle UI Changes, we'll see how it goes.

Please set up the Blind tests and camera shoot out between the Pixel 2 / Note 8 / iPhone 8 / V30 / Sony / HTC. You guys are the best in this field and much more neutral and accurate than DxO who are paid for comment.

Oh Google, always a year or two behind the rest...
I like your software, I really do, but you should stay away from hardware. Just choose a different flagship each year put your software and call it a nexus, a pixel or whatever.
So much less waste of resources and whatdayaknow we may actually a get an android phone with as few problems as possible (in both hardware and software)...

The Pixel 2 XL is one of the better looking phones around, especially compared to the iPhone 8. The Pixel 2, however, automatically looks outdated due to its large bezels; not sure why Google didn't give the smaller Pixel the same design as the larger one like they did last year, but I think it's a silly decision. I would've bought the Pixel 2 if it looked more modern since I'm not a fan of huge screens, but now I'll buy neither!

Wow, those are really ugly phones. Add to that the price, that is absolutely insane, and huuuge bezels on the small model. Also did you watch the event? It feels like they were talking to the babies. I can't believe that this is Google of 2017..

The only thing that looks promising in this phone is the camera. But still don't think it's better than V30
