Huawei Mate 10 Pro review

03 November 2017
Instead of marching in lockstep, the Huawei Mate 10 series will be chasing each other from one place to the next, quite unlikely to catch up except in a select few regions - if any at all. It’s not a parade then, it’s a pursuit and therefore more exciting. So, which one would you pick? The super-sharp Mate 10 or the have-it-all-but-not-quite Mate 10 Pro? The former had its primetime slot already, it's now the Pro's turn to take the spotlight.

L0lip0p, 04 Nov 2017For the glass, i think maybe because of the scratch issue, ... moreWhy use adhesive when it can be removable or just use screw and plastic doesnt scratch that easily unless you scratch it

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2017I don't understand a few things in modern phones. Firstly... moreAbout plastic part I totally agree why dont they just use it more durable allow wireless charging and can be removable with removable battery

If only it had QHD and 3.5mm jack

Just look at the difference in battery life, give me battery over 2k anytime. There's a reason there are so few 2k lcd phones, max for lcd should be fullhd, the battery trade off is too great.

Pabliell, 04 Nov 2017Mate 9 pro was even smaller with 4000 mAh battery and there... moreMate 9 pro is only 2mm taller while 0.5mm wider. In addition its a 5.5inch screen = more space than 6 inch screen.

And all this complaining because you now have to plug your earphone from the 3.5mm jack to the usb-c jack ? How painful is that ?

L0lip0p, 04 Nov 2017For the glass, i think maybe because of the scratch issue, ... moreThat's complete nonsense. I've only had plastic phones and i never use cases. Never had scratched back. Sure some plastic can easily be scratched, but not if it's made the way it should. And glass will always be more prone to scratches so there is zero advantage, only disadvantages.

Battery life is better, but i expected higher tbh out of a 1080p amoled screen 4000mah phone. At least it's better than the regular mate 10. However, no expandable memory and no 3.5mm jack easily make it non-viable.

Just another dongle phone. Such an idiotic tendency to remove 3.5 mm jack even among manufacturers never noticed in doing customer hostile things.

                    Hi
GSMarena staff , going a little bit offtopic . Please do a review of the IPhone X. Even though we all know the details . We would like to see the performance benchmark comparisons and minor camera changes

L0lip0p, 04 Nov 2017For the glass, i think maybe because of the scratch issue, ... morePlastic phones would probably have removable back. Also good luck surviving a drop from head right on the glass back device

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2017I don't understand a few things in modern phones. Firstly... moreFor the glass, i think maybe because of the scratch issue, plastic can scratch pretty much as soon as it came out of the box and that's not good, and when repairs, there's concern about using heatgun to pry open the back, plastic will either melt, deformed or it will just break and left a plastic bit around the glued area
glass is better choice, yup it will break but the replacement part is jut like $10 or something

Side note: the battery endurance though, something rare in flagship

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2017Samsung has a smaller battery = more space for fitting a he... moreMate 9 pro was even smaller with 4000 mAh battery and there was still room for the jack. Huawei just went the lazy way to introduce waterproofing. It is much easier to do with less holes.

Simply, Mate 10 Pro is the best phone on the market.
                              Facts don't lie:
                              1. Great looks (subjective, but it's great)
                              2. Great camera (f1.6 is the best there is)
                              3. Big screen and high sreen to body ratio
                              4. Big battery (learn Note 8)
                              5. Fast CPU and strong GPU
6 Fingerprint sensor in the correct place (learn Samsung, learn)

                              So called 'disadvantages':
                              1. QHD is a gimmick and human eye can't see the difference between it and FHD. Period
                              2. 3.5 mm jack - I never use it, so I don't care
                              3. Micro SD - you don't need it because of 128 GB storage

                              Bravo Huawei

I don't understand a few things in modern phones.
Firstly - the glass back. It looks nice, allows for wireless charging (which is not implemented in most of the glass phones) and better signal reception. But it's fragile, so you have to put a case on in, covering all the looks. So I ask: why not plastic? It can look the same as glass, has the same advantaged considering the signal and it won't break on drop. It's also much cheaper, but you'll say it doesn't feel premium. But you always do put a case on it, don't you?
Secondly - lack of a headphone jack. For waterproofing? Ask Samsung, they've done it already. For slimness? Well, 7mm is still more than enough to fit it in. Moving into a wireless digital era? Then put wireless headphones in the box. If not, then allow me to choose which type of accessory I want to use instead of forcing me to buy a new one.
2016 started making phones less friendly and it seems 2017 has doubled the inconveniences.
