OnePlus 5T review

20 November 2017
The OnePlus 5T is the mid-season substitute to the company's flagship (and, as of late, only) smartphone. The T doesn't bring radical changes - on the contrary; it's a minor update to help the 5 stay in fashion and, as a side effect, why not spark up buzz right in time for holiday shopping.

The alert slider isn't a plus when it means that I can't schedule do not disturb mode automatically. OnePlus even removed the code to schedule it! Some have scheduled it using Tasker, but why should I have to do that?

I think it's camera performance will improve over the time like OP3 series did. They need some more time to fine tune that software as camera hardware is new. They just don't give up on updates like many other brands.

Do you want a headphone jack? Do you prefer the 18:9 or 16:9 aspect ratio? Do you prefer a smaller or a bigger phone? Do you need front-facing speakers? Is price an issue for you?

So These Endurance ratings are non relevant in my opinion

I am still stuck with Galaxy S7 Edge but its old now. Every other flagship is having unavoidable flaws and so not getting any proper replacement.
          Sad.

Looking to get a new phone, I play games on my phone (mostly Dynasty Warriors Unleashed) and the rest is regular use.

Which would you pick? OP5T VS Razer?

            Thanks

Wish GSMarena and all the other reviewers would stop saying its a cheap handset, yes it is if you buy it outright but not if you haven't got £500 to sponk. Getting it on a network contract deal its more expensive than a galaxy s8 or lg v3o on contract that are apparently more expensive phones. o2 network uk (who oneplus agreed exclusive sole seller deal with) want £38-£41month (x24) plus £10 upfront =£922/£994 for this handset compared to same tariff data bundle at carphone warehouse uk doing Galaxy s8 £34 (x24) plus £30 upfront =£846 and Lg v30 £42 (x24) plus 30 upfront =£1038. the v30 is a £800 phone and 5T £500 but 5T ONLY £44 cheaper after 24months on contract. so please STOP telling us its a cheap phone as were clearing being robbed by o2 uk and oneplus in the UK. Oneplus need to supply more UK sellers/networks to stop this robbery by o2 uk.

                1. In web browsing, how long the battery runs is the most important factor followed by video playback and talk-time in determining battery endurance in which OP5T didn't excel.I had OP5 and had to recharge everyday in the evening.
                2. Very little improvement in the camera department, didn't expect this after all those ads and fuss.
                3. No water/dust resistance-it sucks.
                1+2+3= Sad.

The Mi A1 (5X), Mi 6, Mi Max 2 and Mi note 3 are all excellent shooters in daylight and under indoor lighting. Their low light (night) performance is still quite poor compared to other flagships but it's enough for social media I guess.

The only thing that's a shame is that they didn't seriously improve camera software. That low light lens might come in handy if OnePlus or developers improve the app and I hope they do. Maybe OnePlus is thinking in the long run, put in the good hardware now and improve it with user feedback.

Sorry if a bit out of topic, but, is HTC U11 Plus review in the pipeline?
It's great to see GSM Arena comes up with reviews for H2 flagship phones, from Samsung to Apple to Google Huawei LG even OnePlus etc. Why not endeavor more and squeeze the HTC phone in there? ;-)
                          Further, can do a shootout.
                          Thanks a lot in advance!!

The same logic as audio jack removal. Who need it? Nobody!!! (Actually needed both). Still low resolution pentile amoled screen. FHD+ is equivalent of HD+ here. Camera is bad. Is thiat thing worth to call "flagship killer" or even flagship? No. Averagd chinaphone. And too expensive.
Next question is - when they will find another security flaws and personal data steal,? I'm pretty sure - soon and not even once. Will they find another "natural effect" again to decline warranty cases? Will see, but very possible.

So, as expected that secondary camera is more like a marketing trick to fool potential customers than a real value. S8 is the clear winner as alternative and better for the price, even the S7, Mate 9, P10 Plus, hi OP 3T, etc. The Mate 10 need some time to drop it's price. Still waiting what Honor and Huawei will brings before the end of the year more affordable, and anything else that can be released. Bye bye 5T.
