The 630 is I think the highest spec Snapdragon in current use that is immune to both Spectre and Meltdown, which may matter to some people. If you want an 800 series CPU, probably need to wait till 2019 when the hardware fixes should be available.
Also, Sony colour balance is surely adjustable?

sony a2 ultra -- mostly available only with 32GB total internal memory --only 25gb avaiable -NOT ENOUGH ..sony accessories not available --as always with sony - zero almost aftersales service ..no sony service centers ..sony fanboys stop wardances ..get real ..
simple choices== samsung or google for android OR rob a bank and buy latest apple iphone x .. ok !

I remember seeing the View 10 review before they updated the audio quality test results and it was really horrible. So maybe even this phone could actually have good enough audio quality with an amp, but let's see if they're going to re-test this one too.

There is no way external amplifier could be worse than the standalone jack. It's usually the other way round.

The Huawei View 10 had excellent readings in the active external amplifier part of our test. Loud and free of distortion accurate its output is as good as they come."
In case the issue is the Sony phone, then they really have to work on fixing it. Nobody could enjoy listening to music on their headphones if the audio quality really is as tested. That's basically the same level of quality as those 50 dollar replica phones from China.

I complained about the audio testing and also sent an email to them. No response and comment here also disappeared. Let's see whether this comment survives.

But at least XA2 ser... moreBoth of these mid-end smartphones are sure competitive, hence it is based on what the person really needs. Their performance is also on par, except if the person needs 4K recording on the smartphone, XPERIA XA2 ULTRA is the way to go, or maybe other better alternatives, if the person wants IP68 rating, he'll probably go for the GALAXY A8 2018. Was expecting to have both 4K recording and IP68 rating at the same time, but nonetheless in my opinion 4K recording is more important than the waterproof rating, and it is glad to see Sony bringing 4K recording to the mid-end too. Not trying to say that GALAXY A8 2018 is a bad smartphone though, it is as good as the XPERIA XA2 ULTRA, but is just slightly overpriced without 4K recording, but when the prices drop, the GALAXY A8 2018 will be a good deal to consider for mid-end flagships

But at least XA2 series has 4K video recording and according to rumours , XA2 and L2 will be the last Sony phone to combined both Loop Surface and Omni-Balance , because with new Sony flagship , Omni-Balance will be axed and Loop Surface could be redesigned again . And for 4K video recording , because even A8 and A8+ (2018) that priced higher than both XA2 siblings and even older Xperia M5 , both A8 siblings doesn't have 4K video recording which quite ashamed though for a phone price at $500 , even tho there's some paid-off features like IP68 and etc.

Hayaan Mo Sila, 08 Feb 2018I really am suspecting that this has something to do with G... moreRecombu video sounds same bad, as if mic is too sensitive and even standard noise cancellation during recording is completely turned off, so distant sounds get too loud and distorted waay too much.
Its bad, no way around it.
They need to fix it.

I do agree, however, with the point that Sony needs to do some change in design for real sake, and I'm glad it will happen this year, at least for the flagship with 'Mirai' design replacing the old but gold OmniBalance.

I have watched Recombu's video sample test of this and the normal XA2, as well as GSMArena samples, and to me, they sound good. Not spectacular, but nothing to complain.

Btw IMO, looking at those competitors, all looking exactly the same, XA2 Ultra shines with its distinctivness, uniqueness and classy good looks.

BTW never had any intrusive bloatware on a Sony phone. And their specs are one of the most complete that you can have.
