Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact review

17 March 2018
It's once again peak smartphone season and Sony is next to join the annual spring race. But while others do regular and plus-size models, Sony, as usual, is going towards the other end of the spectrum with the new Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Why did you guys replace the "Key test findings" with "Pros and cons" ? It was really nice for people who prefer to read the summarized version rather than the full review.

First, the quality of the camera in low light is a clear improvement over XZ1, but: "We can only assume that's the Multi Frame noise reduction, asking for six 1 second, or so, shots to work with."

This is ridiculous, six second to take a shot? "Ridiculous" because the one that took only one second using Manual seems better. The other in Auto is brighter, but not necessary "better". Were we could already see became blown out.

Since i am leaning to the smaller more than its big sibling, i consider it the best smartphone until now.

I understand there is a trend towards bigger screens, but 5" is not compact anymore. A few of us want a really small phone, like 4" max. Something you can put in your pocket and still walk naturally. We have tablets and computers where we can watch Game of Thrones, no need to do that on the phone.

Shitty design, poor batery life(compare to XZ1), thick as a brick, not compact anymore (must be under 130mm). No thanks Sony, you just lost one loyal customer. Hope my XZ1 Compact last forever.....

This phone is as convincing if not better than the XZ2.
And the multi-stacking feature is welcome, I wish that it was available since the XZ Premium because I knew the sensor was perfectly capable of doing that!
Talking about build quality or the premium aspect, I remember that my Lumia 830 felt really good with its aluminum chassis ans polycarbonate back.

So glad the back isn't glass and it's not slippery. I dislike cases but I had to put one on my S7 because of slippery back and thin/sharp sides. It looks like XZ2 C addresses exactly that. Only if they had kept the headphone jack...

this is year 2018 yet Sony dare to sell a phone with such thickness? Are they having too much time and money to test consumers' patience?

Thick but no jack is a deal-breaker.

Ascheron, 17 Mar 2018Was hoping it to have a 5 inch screen on a Z1 Compact body. This one has same size of ZL with smaller screen.
                        18:9 sucks

According to a post on weibo, this might be the last Compact.
People are looking for bigger and bigger phones..

ME , 17 Mar 2018Most of the Dual-cameras are produced by Sony,so they have ... morewell it seem next sony device will sport new camera, dual camera at that, what more interesting is they used it for boost in lowlight image with no bw+color configuration, rather a system tied to their processing that can boost iso even further(to be real, there's still no smartphone camera can compete with sony 12800 iso)

ask Apple where their camera comes from..
The reason they use the single is because it is better.
