Huawei Mate 10 Lite long-term review

Here’s a Mate 10 that is less than half the price of any other Mate 10. Yet it looks similarly modern with its tall screen, and even comes with four cameras. So what’s going on? Can you really get flagship-like features for a fraction of the price?

I am using this phone since Dec 2017 til now 2022. Believe me or not, this device has zero lagging even on battery saver mode, i use it really heavy for social media and Whatsapp from day 1. The battery life is same hell as new. I rarely noticed if its even 10% discharged in 5 years. I have came across many phone expensive but i cant even replace my primary phone which is mate 10 lite.
The phone is durable as well, i guess it has fallen on the ground hard as many as 30 35 times. But zero malfunction and damage. I use 3d protector on screen.

      Can you please tell me why mate 10 lite has stopped as 8.0? Sometime ago it was announced in a Huawei forum that it will get 10 without a 9 update but its all silent again. Lately, it is announced that Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will receive 10 within Apr/May (due to covid-19 issue) and again no news about 10 Lite.... Didwe buy a trash brick?

        I had this phone for more than 2 years, and battery life for me was amazing, wholle day easy, somethimes even untile next day evning.

If I play some games that are more demanding, well battery goes off faster. But on a normal usage it can go for more than 24 hours without charging

              I've been using this phone for the last 4 months.
              All i can say is that for the 300 euros that i paid for it, it's sensational, with one big minus : The Battery.
              It is the worst SoT i've ever seen on a phone, max 4 hours and a half.
              Android Oreo doesn't help, same problems with the battery.
              If i would recomend this phone to someone? That's a big NO.
              If i would buy this phone again? NO
              Why? Because of the battery life.

                Some things in this review are not accurate at all and are just pure overreaction. Camera takes 2-3 seconds to start 90% of the times, the phone doesn't freeze, maybe in some scenarios will have a 5-10 sec delay. The baterry is great, beyond great, sometimes I come home from work with more than 50% battery life and you can watch 1h video stream on 10% battery, wich is great. Overall its a brilliant phone for the money, I am happy with it, does what it supose to do!

                    Worst battery pack up.. Event though it's more than 3000 mah.. Fed up with its battery. Every 3 min it will drain 1 percent.. I gave my mobile twice for service at Huawei service Centre.. Still the same. Go with honor 7x.

I didn't read the whole article, just the conclusion to grasp the main points. I find it useful. I wasn't planning to buy this phone, just wanted to catch up with trends. I knew for older version of Huawei that the Lite was a marketing trick and this one confirms it one more time.

I don't have any problem with my unit, maybe the test unit have problems, or maybe the tester is a Samsung, iPhone lover. :)))

                              I have to disagree partially with this review as much as i love reading GSMarena for their phone reviews.

                              I have been using the Mate 10 lite( Nova 2i from where i am from) since the week it launched and for the price, its really was the best choice for me at least( my other choices were Samsung J7 Pro and Sony XA1 at that time)

                              The camera app does indeed take 1-3 second to launch from cold sometimes.

                              Battery life is generally very good for me, 630am unplugged, medium usage and by the time 6pm, still 50% with 3.5 hrs screen on time at 70% brightness.

                              UI is really really smooth for me, rarely hiccups in my case. Fingerprint scanner still one of the fastest I've used so far. Maybe my unit is lucky or special haha. I also game( warwings and asphalt 8 at high settings) on it and so far its enough to meet my demands

                              Photo quality is exceeding my expectation ( and my previous phone was a Nexus 6P). Night shots are really good but for some reason indoors, maybe 2/10 times the quality was below expectations.

                              Currently looking to switch to a Honor View 10 but probably wont since i can't justify the switch as the Mate10 lite is still going strong for me.

                                Indeed, lags and freezes for about 1 minute are not acceptable, I have a midrange Xperia XA Ultra that only lags a few seconds at most, I don't recall 1 minute freezes, if so they were very rare.

                                  Lags and freezes like those are unacceptable, not even my 2015 S5 Neo performs that badly.

                                        Sorry,but this sounds even worse than my 4 year old htc desire 510,which was barely adequate then,today its £40 trash phone performance,any device that locks,freezes,stutters and drinks battery as well should not cost anything close to whats being asked for it,it sounds like it needs rooting and a basic stock rom flashing to it as a good start,this is not a good advert for their other devices..
                                        Too many performance compromises and bloated os on top make this the kind of device you soon regret having to use much.
