Anonymous, 10 Apr 2018No. Is simply because it's there and sharpenedIt's there and softened on the Samsung. To a point where it eradicates some fine detail it should capture - see the shutters. They're wrong.
Your point?

lek, 10 Apr 2018I prefer Samsung's output, day and night scene.
Okay, now ... moreWhy thank you for your concern. But Us Sony users certainly wont need those tripods, as 1/8 sec shutter is perfectly usable handhelded, and with that 1/8 sec shutter provides great results, with lower auto ISO, and so much preserved detail as is presented in this here shootout.
And is just 0.2 sec more to handhold than what S9 uses in auto, even on tripod.
If I want extremely great lowlight shots, I ll get a tripod tho, yes.

Okay, now I get it, pixelpeeping is not fair for Sony ;)
Btw, make sure the tripod is with y'all Sony boys when the night comes =))

Which is better at crop? https://imgur.com/gallery/aFsFt
I would give the XZ2 an obvious advantage, It just got better looking and more beautiful square pixels, and I just dont see the noise you are talking about.

well Samsung's cam obviously has more advantage and advance feature than Sony. better luck next time ;)

lek, 07 Apr 2018Bruh.. You're the one who did limited, limited your mind to... moreNoise is not a "problem" unless you crop 150%+ and if you crop to identical depth to the S9 (IE account for the different focal length of the lens and the different resolution of the sensor) it disappears.
You're seeing it more in these images because the level of crop is more on the Sony due to the extra resolution and the difference in lens, meaning that GSMs crop tool goes further in on the xperia. You can clearly see it doing so because when you crop the image you're further towards the subject and when you look at it uncropped it's further away.
Crowing "more noise" in such a comparison is resolutely ignoring all of the other advantages, as well as forgiving the Samsung for getting some of the textures in these shots just plain wrong.

The s9 display is the most accurate display when in that mode. Just like pretty much every year. But clearly it's in a default or user chosen saturated mode.
Seriously... Common sense and logic.
And clearly from the samples and article they both went for very similar accurate colors in the photo itself. With each having their own variances.
Again... I can't stress this enough to all of you... Common sense... Logic... Use your brain....

In the pictures that have both phone's displaying photo and the object, Sony's color is almost the same as the object while Samsung's is showing a different color.

Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2018Supersaf is fboyish. Where actually Xperia gets better expo... moreyou have no idea. it's because S9 decides to focus on exposing the face rather than the background. and S9 is smart to choosing it. that's why the background appears blown out but the face gets well light (while in XZ2 it nails the background but the face is dark).

For the first time after many years, Sony phones look innovative and unique. Although i am not a big fan i find it quite pleasing to see this brand refreshed and competitive against top products of giant such as Samsung.

AnonD-481725, 06 Apr 2018Conclusion, Samsung decided to wipe the noise with a little... moreWell said, I thought this all along with being a long time user of professional dslr camers, resolution it's always key, especially with small sensors I find Sony is using resolution it's just a sales gimmick, I've always wanted sony to do well in every area but they do let them selves down on the odd occasion with half baked products, I'm really wanting to go back to sony since the disappointment of my Z3 but after two years of good use from my first Samsung S7 Edge I'm unsure whether that the xz2 is much of a upgrade, I'm certainly not a Samsung fan even though there products a close to perfection, sony phone always run slightly quicker for me as a phone, I honestly think with the jump up sony has made this year, the next flagship could be the phone we will be talking about
