But where are the low light samples? A real comparison would imply some night shots, too.

Don't know which phone is B but it needs some serious improvements. I can see purple fringing, oversharpening, heavy processing...
The phone A is much better, with noisier images, but pictures are detailed and clean.

20 Pro images look like they are made by a painter. Too much post processing that makes them look soft and with colors blending like its detailed oil on canvas.

Actually we want to see the result between Nokia 808 Pureview with P20 Pro.
I still use 808 since then as main camera phone and still work pretty great compare to most modern smartphone in terms of quality.
From what I've seen this comparison, Cleary P20 wins in many ways but I still prefer unprocessed file from 1020 and also color looks natural than P20 Pro.

That blue sky on Phone A screams "Lumia Sky™".
Phone A is softer and has a nicer overall color reproduction (on my display) although a bit over-saturated. I think it has also a little edge on dynamic range.
Phone B shows more detail in part due to a stronger post-processing (but not always: just look at the furthest buildings on the first photo), but it produces noisier images. The iPhone on the wall pictures looks crisper but lots of information is lost due to highlight clipping+stronger constrast.
I think I prefer Phone B, but I'm not sure.

One of the two is oversharpening pictures like crazy, in the end with washed out colors in crops.

If Phone A isn't the 1020, then I must be stupid af cuz I cant recognize pics from my own phone.
apart from that, both phones are great. the level of details etc... and most of the differences can be nullified with just a bit of retouch on photoshop. I guess I ain't throwing the old brick yet.
BTW, A question for the Reviewer/Mods.... Be honest guys How long did ya'll spend on the old brick before you got the perfect settings? And pls dont say it was on auto, cuz I know it prefers to focus on random stuff more than whats in the center when put on auto.

P20 Pro wins and is the best camera in a smartphone right now

It looks like the cropped details were carefully chosen to show a minimum of post processing to avoid having every photo from the P20 looking like garbage. Only the last sample doesn't hide this.

Phone B is Huawei. More processing going on. Looks better but little purple fringing.
But 40mpx pictures from Huawei is way more softer than 10mpx which uses a lot of post processing, so not sure if GSMArena used 40mpx or 10mpx.

Like always looking at votes people prefer bumped contrast instead of real details.
They dont realize that its better to bump contrast in postprocessing than have it forced on original image.
Because who would care about such details?
Most of people would not care if image would be in 1920x1080 resolution because they use them only in social media and they never zoom them or even use to anything.
People who need good quality images do postprocessing and segregation anyway so its better to correct contrast colors after taking shoot instead of having it forced on source image.

You can clearly see which one is which, by the depth of field difference. Smaller sensor more depth, bigger less depth. Small difference, but it's there.

AnonD-126650, 09 Apr 2018Can spot the aggressive Huawei sharpening a mile away. The... moreYup Huawei starts putting their oversharpen images since Mate 10 series. It looks good when u dont pixel peeping anyway. In my opinion, Mate 9 camera algorithm is way better.

Phone B more often has better details and dynamic range than phone A but it also has a lot of chromatic abberations (purple edges), that's why I voted for phone A in several scenes

Can spot the aggressive Huawei sharpening a mile away.
The window blinds image is a interesting result, definitely a processing issue there.
Agree that we should have at least one low-light image in there for comparison.

Yeah P20 pro is phone B. Newer lens produce sharper images. I know why they didnt put the low light comparison between the two, because it will be much obvious lol.
