Don't forget Xenon flash and camera grip Nokia has. I think the every comparison between a Nokia 1020 and some newer phone is unreal, noting to do with Nokia being older because it is still king of the kill, but more in a sense that 1020 camera is for the serious people and all these newer cameras are made to make nice looking pictures for socialmedias.

A blurry backgrounds comparison would have been more interesting. The P20 Pro would have blurrier backgrounds than the Lumia 1020.

I voted for Phone A all the way. Phone B performs well but something's wrong with it. Photos looked messy when zoomed.? Test 1 shows that Phone B can provide more detail of the leaves BUT the scratches on the snail is more pronounced in Phone A. Test 5 also proves my point. I really don't know why but it feels like Nokia Lumia 1020 is Phone A, eh.? I'm a former Nokia Lumia 930 user before switching to Nokia 5 that's why maybe the processing is a bit familiar and I like Phone A's approach. OH GOD, I wish Phone A is the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Jeez! Phone A all the way. Natural, balanced approach over over processed, over exposed boosted crap. Time and time again it shows that people are getting dumber and dumber voting for Option 2.

Nice article, Huawei should win otherwise it's pretty sad with a 4 year difference in tech and evolution. But I am using my Lumia 1020 at the moment and I enjoy the pictures so much.

As a Nokia fan, I belong to the Nokia algorithms school, real colors, soft normal sharpness...etc.
It's obvious also that the Huawei P20 pro is the answer of : Time evolution, because it's better in noise reduction, details, photo stretching...etc
But there is a lot of points we should mention here:
1- Does GSMARENA updated their Lumia 1020 to WP GDR3 updated, it's the best in terms of detail gathering and algorithms overall.
2- Huawei P20 pro got an ugly purple tint :/... I saw a lot of reviews and photo samples and unfortunately it purple the photos and shift the white balance...Selfies also does the same shit.
3- Huawei's algorithms just kill the photo quality, tons of saturation and sharpness...photos some how looks awful :/
4- The most important : If people are asking about low light test, We need the lumia to be put in manual mode (4S, ISO 100, Infinity focus) because I got a DSLR like photos with such thing, Auto mode Lumia 1020 will be just a normal phone, P20 pro will destroy it due to the new evolution in night photography + F/stop + noise reduction + this new Night mode....
I hope they gonna update huawei p20 pro soon, fixin all the colors and sharpness shit, disable this shitty post processing...It will be much better.

the nasty purple tint and fringing give out the p20, the image sharp, but overexposed and too much processing is done

5 years old phone still has better image processing than the newest 40 MP camera that use oversharpening and bullshit image processing. It may look sharper but that is not natural detail from the sensor and you can't remove the purple fringing from the image. Leica looks like cheap plastic lens.

Most users will go for warm, sharp and bright results, its nothing to do with professional usage, well you could still capture raw(if possible) for such use, but p20 results are more user-friendly... Well there is no much choice if you want new 40mp flagship.

Processing power and apertures(f2.2 vs f1.8) are just too different. Though p20 samples are obvious - brighter, less noisy, way more processed,... well its still better choice for better results, no need to edit noisy shots. Not to forget it gets blurry to edges on 1020.
No night shots and samples before were bad, wonder how p20pro performs then.
You could test also mics against that haac in video test, or is it just photo they win at?
