Previously they're not on Apple or even SAMSUNG's level, but as years past, they have increasingly becoming better and better, now I can already say it is ready to compete with brands like SAMSUNG. Didn't u know that different countries smartphones are priced differently? Not all the time one particular brand is more expensive than other brands. It may be more expensive in your country, but have u thought of other countries? Definitely not. It seems like u got some hatred for HUAWEI, why not rename yourself into "A HUAWEI hater"? U just underestimated them, what a disgrace

Nick, 12 Apr 2018XZ2's low light performance is good, but not great compared... moreBased on colors, feels like AI wasn't used. Its like what you would see in hdr situations(with poor hdr results) with older xperia, some parts are too bright or too dark, colors are bad. Try to compare yourself, its not great to look at.
If its about low light, its just get worse for details, I mean its far away from hdr on xperia. Though with long exposures it can get more usable results, it still uses same sensor so results are similar. As with other phones, its just ois difference in very low light. Xperia on other hand can get great results in not extreme low light in full resolution, still looking hdr like and full of colors.
Maybe gsma need to add extreme low light to test samples, in all I compared there xz2 wins. I also dont remember shooting in such extreme low light with a phone, xz2 would lose in. Thats what I mean.

P20 Pro with AI turned off and S9+ still can produce better photos. And if you are actually talking about its camera quality based on those oversaturated, overprocessed instagram-ready photo samples, then you really shouldn't.

Take a look at this one for example, it looks great with natural colours and fairly modest processing which subtly enhances overall clarity without destroying details. See the textures on grass, they are preserved very well, whereas with AI enabled (https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p20_pro-review-1747p7.php#image6) they look horrible.

Its better in only 5x zoom and long exposure. Test shots reveal it all, uneven detail, poor colors. I would go for any flagship instead.
XZ2 still wins, bright or low light, stills or video. Useless number hype, got me excited for nothing.

Impressive camera. Now time for an all-out shootout between the S9+, the P20 Pro and the Pixel 2. You can throw in the Mi Mix 2s, the V30, the iPhone X and XZ2 also....

The problem is, everything nowadays is freaking HUGE! My S7 is perfect in size and any bigger phone just really upsets me. None of these flagships from 2018 brought my attention to the level that I would want to change my S7 this year... Sad

As a mobile phone overall it is just another copy of iphone x. But here because of Leica, camera has got its originality and innovation. Lets hope this innovation encourages others in camera department like iphone x did for stupid notch...

We waited 5 years for the 40 MP camera to return. Sadly, with no stabilization in 4k videos to consider purchase

They have faile... morePictures with Rubbish AI turned off look great, with little to no artifacts and excellent amount of details with seemingly accurate color reproduction. I prefer those images over those taken by Galaxy S9 or Pixel 2, tbh.
However, those taken with AI enabled make me want to scream, "Get out of my sight"!
Lumia phones cannot keep up to modern flagship smartphones in terms of dynamic range and low-light photography, by the way. I know you want to bring them up because they also have high MP count, and they are still indeed capable shooters, but honestly, they are not on the top anymore.
