Motorola may have changed ownership a few times already, but the iconic Moto G series not only survived the turmoil but thrived. Cheap yet powerful is a very lucrative smartphone niche and lately all makers are making the run for it. Does the Moto G6 hits the sweet spot? Let's find out!

Why will someone buy this device with such low specs for such a high price and when you already know lenovo is going to destroy it with their updates.

            Hi GSMArena,

A few people are reporting that this phone has poor 3G/LTE reception. Have you guys noticed something like that? If not, would it be possible for you to test it?

Thanks for the great content as always.

Worse battery life rating than the z2 force. And the z2 force is about the same price on secondary market

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2018You get only 1 major software update and security updates e... moreWtf are you talking about? Don't compare it with a Android One Edition. Compare the X4 with an Android One Edition. The X4 Android One gets updates faster than any other device out there, it recieved Oreo in mid December amd has been constantly recieving all security patches to date. My Z2 Play and Z Play run Oreo from over a month now, what other non Android One 2016 mid-range got updated to Oreo yet? NONE.
Moto has been decent with updates.
Nokia Android One is boring, nothing special about them and the 6.1 costs the same as a G6 Plus. On the G6 you're getting the Moto Experience suite with Moto Display, Moto Voice, Attentive Display, Chop Chop for flashlight, double twist the wrist to start camera. You also get front facing flash, nicer screen + design and better camera.
Nokia is also starting to flood the market with phones, when they'll have as many devices as Motorola has, they won't be able to deliver updates so quickly anymore.
It's a really really good phone for the price IMO.

Whereas AndroidOne phones like the Nokia 6.1 get 2 major software updates and monthly security updates for 3 years. Motorola used to be the best when it came to software updates for midrangers, but they're among the worst now.

And they're super slow in updating too, only recently they started the Oreo rollout for G5S Plus (still a staged rollout), no idea when other G5 series and G4 Plus phones will get the update.

There are better alternatives for the same price. The difference between this and the G6 Plus is only 50 euros. And this phone cost 249 euros ($293). You can buy a Mi 6X with SD660, 6Gb/64Gb for 239 euros now. Or a Nubia Z18 mini for 266 euros with SD660 too and all better than this phone. And for now till i see a real change i don't believe in the Lenovorola updates. Bye bye overpriced crap phone.

The competitors you choose are not good. Most of them have either Android Nougat with unknown date of updating to Oreo or a single camera or a microUSB instead of Type C or either more expensive, getting into the G6 Plus territory.
This phone is in it's own league. It's a good phone for the price, really balanced specs. Performance will get better within the next software updates as always.
You get 2 years of updates, one major Android update and then security patches. This phone supports Project Treble and updates will come faster than on the previous models.

don't buy this cr@p , i have the Moto G5S and yet to get the oreo update, im waiting for so long , whats worse is i cant even find the my phone on the Motorola support menu its like there is no such version at all .. i bought this device from a verified vendor but they cant do sh!t about updates cause Motorola and lenovo being a pile of useless junk production corp, while companies like Samsung even with the massive amounts of customization in their android systems, still manage to release Oreo on their Samsung phones which support it ? what the F#*& .. how long are these incompetent people going to take to produce an almost 99.9% stock version of android oreo for their motorola phones ?, for those who don't know, when Windows Phone / Mobile wasn't discontinued, the update release date meant that you would be getting that update in 24-48 hours or worst case 3 days from the mentioned date of its release, this might sound weird for android users but i now know why an iPhone user in their sane mind wouldn't dare to switch to this platform, insecure, late updates, a mess of a platform, bad optimization, worst of all there are massive companies like this that happen to have no shame in doing things like this ?, and people want to hate windows phones for not having google apps ? go ask google why they didn't provide it in the first place, just market monopolizing out of fear and i don't blame em, this platform is utterly sh!t. now that we have a new virus for android that works just like "wannacry"

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2018Lenovo had done it wrong this time. G6 play should have ... moreYes for the G6 Plus.
As for the G6 Play, it could've had the SD630 instead, while the G6 should have the SD636 or even the Helio P60.

"till, the new lineup needed the tall screen. Otherwise, it would have looked outdate." - wherefrom did you get this? Most average customers I met and those I personally know do NOT buy new phones though their old phones are broken because of too big of screens. They want 4.6" not 5"+. I may be wrong, but there are no alternatives for such a small screen factor right now. People sit on their 250€$ and don't buy new phones eventhough they want to...

Pretty sure the "motorola" at the front can find somewhere else to be printed. That's ugly af!
