Finding a fully functional and stable community Rom is a rare feat and even less for Huawei phones.
If stock android is your thing then Huawei themes are quite deep and easily find stock theme to change the entire phone to stock Android look. Second option is to install a launcher.
However if it just about that wannabe geek obsession with changing roms every week then I agree Huawei is not an option.

Its not impossible thing to pack high capacity batteries. Only if OnePlus had intention to include higher capacity, while they started build designs. I don't think price for slightly higher capacity battery would be of steep incline in cost.

Even Exynos from Samsung can be unlocked, not the snapdragon NA, Latin American and chinese variants. Idem with LG, EU variants can be unlocked but sadly not dual SIM asian variants.

Same pric... moreHuawei is now walking back on community support and will stop unlocking bootloaders for all future models (as well as discontinue the existing process for current models in a matter o months). Plus, the 3rd-party support has always been not so good due to the Kirin SoC.
A few months ago I would have completely agreed with you, but now (due to this boneheaded repressive measure taken by Huawei) I wholeheartedly recommend to stay away from their products. OnePlus has many faults, but the fact is they allow you to instantly unlock the bootloader and run 3rd-party ROMs without even loosing your warranty -- now that is freedom and the ethos of OSS!

The Mate 10 AL10 variant has 6Gb RAM 128 ROM and same battery life as the 4Gb.
The SoC SD845 is more modern and powerful about all in the GPU, but both are 10nm based, so the power consumption depends of the number of transistors more than anything else, something only known buy the manufacturer.
We only can test them together using the same apps from 100% to 0% and compare. But I bet in this case, above all, if the Mate 10 has better battery life that is what people are reporting, is because of the size of the battery 4000 mAh in the Mate 10 vs 3300 in the OP 6.

And you can install vanilla android anyway! Whatdayaknow. Android is like any other computer platform where you can install another os if you don't like the one it comes with. Who knew?
Now let me go on and avoid *excellect* phones because I'm too lazy to do a 30 minute OS swap...

Same pric... moreSo true. Software is the only reason why people don't buy Huawei phones. But I love EMUI so much after owning my current midrange Y7 Prime 2017.
It has better flagship cameras, SoC that is still impressive until now, glass back (which I'm not a fan but it's premium!), and expandable storage!
