"Taking a screenshot has now become impossible by the default keys"
The default keys for HTC are holding down the power button and pressing home, which works perfectly on the U12+

"The HTC U12+ finds itself in a very difficult and critical price range: $799. At this cost, there is not much room for compromise or cutting corners. "

I just dont understand, if this has a 16 MP telephoto camera, why it takes only 12 MP photos? It is non-sense. It was not some software problem from an early unit?

I once lived by htc law. I had all the flagships that had something to show as a real innovation. Touch Cruise 2007 as it had the first Sense UI, making Windows Mobile actually usable as a phone OS with all its finger touch capabilities, sd -card, wifi, bt, gps and 3g- a truly innovative phone for good price. Sensation XE for the first multi-core cpu phone that was overclocked and had powerful separate graphics chip, also inner-curved glass to avoid scratches and unibody aluminum case. I then had my first "accident phone" the m8s. It didn't even actually have the physical hardware of barometer or ir-blaster that was in the specs. It was the beginning of the downfall of htc. I then got htc 10. Metal unibody, fast phone USB type c, and ICE view. Ice view case was a true engineering marvel again. One that made the m10 another giant inside the dull phone sea. But the case broke in 6 months and not from falling, the cover simply teared off over time. There was this cool flip case also, but by the time it broke U11 was out and NO ACCESSORIES FOR 10 WEREN' T AVAILABLE. And ok, I am from the digital mecca of Estonia, but its still a small country. I searched from London, Frankfurt, Helsinki. From all major stores, wasted many days of my life, tried to order from htc representatives and ther just is no Ice view cases available. There are, however plenty available on Aliexpress. All of which look ugly, are made cheaply and will probably be over sooner than the original. And looking at the order numbers its clear, why htc has bad business- Since they don't sell their overpriced accessories, ppl are stuck with chinese copies and all the money goes to China instead of the r&d of htc. I would have easily soveled out 90€ or more for the flip case. It just was never available anywhere. So I now bought CAT S61 for it being an engineering marvel. Huge battery to start with, ofcourse a freaking thermal camera and laser and air poison measuring sensor are its main engineering feats, but also the MIL standard that makes it shock proof against drops from 1,8 meters, 3 meters underwater, aluminum case, No stupid ugly phone rubber condom needed, HARDWARE BUTTONS, fm radio and phone jack. And when Someone flashes the cheap htc U12+ I can tell them its a cheap phone, because this CAT costs a 100 more and I paid for features while with htc you paid for their lack of supoort and innovation that has put them in debt for many years now. I can only hope that the next CAT flagship is bringing something new like more powerful laser and high-end chipset on the market in the future of 3 years, because that is the minimum that I need for my phone age. And that is what the Nokia 9300, Touch Cruise 2007 and Sensation XE had to offer me.

P20 Pro... Holy grail of cameras. Yeah, right, "totally".
Why not actually try it side by side and not only that, throw a HTC One M9 into the mix. Why not?
Then see how much of a holy grail it is then.
I tried many scenarios and only in low indoor light and night shots my M9 failed to produce better results than a P20 Pro i tested.
Like, photos had way more details and a lot less noise on my M9. (I took the photos at 40MP with the P20 Pro.)

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2018not bad at all but price should be not more than 600$ You claim this item is: "not bad at all".
If it can't easily take screenshots than it's faulty. Having said that, I have a S9. It takes screenshots without issue... but not if you update the Chrome app. One update of Chrome, and it'll block you from taking screenshots in incognito mode, due to claims of a potential "security policy violation" that would occur if you were permitted to successfully captue a screenshot during incognito mode usage. This reminds of a lot of tomfoolery (bull crap).

Many people that have newer Galaxy Ss and Notes also have bluetooth headsets like the Gear IconX.
If you can buy a $700+ phone, why can't you buy $150+ bluetooth headsets?

LLL, 21 Jun 2018Try Android Headlines's U12+ camera video review.Ok, now seen finally samples here on gsma, U11+ was the sharpest 12mp shooter and thats what may some scenes seem worse in U12+, as they are less sharp, mainly in low light. Phone however captures better colors, probably the best hdr out there(better than p20pro, pixel2, xz2).
If I was not into sharpness and amount of detail captured by xperia, this is what I would choose, for photo/video.
